Ascension: Round Two, Group Two

Another eight epic games have been played in the Ascension tournament, and now we are only one group away from seeing the final three players.

Round two saw

ToT)Mondragon,

Nony[Media], and

RoX.localhost go back and forth way past the two hour limit in some amazing games. Please do not read any further if you do not wish to be spoiled.

A quick summary

Media's Nony began by beating both the other players, starting off 2-0. In game three, Mondragon evened things out with Nony in a twenty seven minute game on Zodiac, where things boiled down to the very last moments.

Game four saw localhost display his PvZ skills, as he used perfect psi storms and micro to topple over Mondragon's forces in twenty three minutes on Blue Storm. With all players with wins, we were coming close to the two-hour mark with no clear winner in sight. The Russian protoss player also won game five, evening the score against Nony.

Even further lengthening the series, Mondragon beat localhost on Python in game six. With all three players tied, we still had two games to go before the winner was decided. In game seven, Mondragon won again against Nony again.

The final game was played

Game eight was on Zodiac, where Mondragon and localhost squared off. localhost opened with a fast expand, forge first, and Mondragon took his fast hatchery as well. Getting a quick citadel, localhost prepared for quick speed zealots, as well as templars, bypassing the stargate. Mondragon put up his spire and morphed lurkers, using a timed attack to delay localhost's third base while putting up his fourth. The game went back and forth until about fifteen minutes in, where Mondragon dropped a ton of units into localhost's main, shifting the game into his favor.

Continuing his relentless attacks, Mondragon began shutting down all of localhost's expos, and after failing his last-effort attack, localhost surrendered, making the heavily favored Mondragon the winner of this group.
