A quick look at Ascension's sixth group

Week 6 saw the evolution of the game as the past, present, and future collided in a 2 hour marathon.

Another week of MediaESport's Ascension tournament is up and this week there were three more of the premiere names in Brood War battling for a shot into the next round of the tournament. Who would go on to face players such as Idra, Mondragon, XiaOzI, Nony, and White-Ra? First, let's take a look at the possibilities.

Ascension: Group Six Preview

Player 1:

SG-Yosh

A veteran of the game, Yosh has played since the old days, even getting second place at WCG Canada 2001 and WCG USA 2005. He has played virtually every big name since the very beginning. He is known for his unique builds and his near-flawless use of Siege Tanks. Being a known player for so many years earned him a spot in group six. We have not seen a whole lot from Yosh recently, but hopefully we will see this old-school gosu come through and teach the other players why he's been around so long.

Player 2:

MgZ)IefNaij

One of the hottest players today, IefNaij is the future of Brood War. At only the age of 16, he has such achievements like placing top 8 in WCG Canada in '06, placing 5th in eSTRO's SuperStars tournament last year, winning ICCup's Season 2 ladder finals, and also winning ICCup/Pokershark's 1v1 tournament this month. He has shown he belongs here, with wins over several former Ascension players. Will his momentum continue, or will he be defeated at the hands of the older players?

Player 3:

LoWeLy[F2F]

Lowely is probably the best player in all of Belarus. Although he may not be a huge name in the scene, he has done considerably well for quite some time. He has played in every WCG Grand Finals since 05, even placing in the top 16 that year. He also got second place in ICCup's 1v1 tournament this month, beating XiaOzI - the Ascension Group 5 winner - but placing behind IefNaij. The question is: can Lowely use his experience and settle the score with IefNaij by winning this group?
