QCup: A Look Back

Tonight, round 16 of the QCup gets played. Today, we take a look at fourteen weeks of the clan event, who's on top, and what's yet to come.

At 18:00 CET today, week 16 of QPad's clan league will kick off, offering the participating clans another chance at grabbing those points they so desperately need. The Templars of Twilight still rank at the top of the list, but LRM) needs only a round victory while Team BW- and MYM only need a round victory and a semifinal to beat them there.

Looking back, it's second placers Los Reyes del Mambo who got the event's first victory all the way in its first round. It was Lamer who fought his way to the top, cementing the clan's place in the top 5 for the ensuing weeks. Current ranking leaders ToT had a harder time of it - they found themselves far outside of the winning brackets until finally hitting their stride in week 5.

This would establish the trio of ToT, BW- and LRM) that has dominated the top 5 in various configurations over the last few weeks. However, they're not the only clans to hit a stride in this event. 3DClan, Excello, and MeetYourMakers have not been far behind. MYM were relatively late bloomers - they saw their first victory at the hands of Testie in week 6, after which White-Ra booted them into the top 3 the week afterwards. After falling off the radar for several weeks, they finally got themselves back in the top 3 with a week 15 victory.

3DClan has been a steady riser all tournament. Never quite taking a top spot, they've earned their position due to their ability to grab at least some points in every round, placing them 4th for several weeks now. Right beneath them rests Excello, which hadn't been accomplishing much in the cup until two recent victories in week 10 and 11 put them in contention for the top spot.

The QCup has, however, suffered somewhat from clans going inactive and failing to show up at all. Amongst those tossed from the competition due to inactivity or other reasons are early round winners DkH (which fused with MYM) and the now-dead CDS. The management has compensated by dividing the inactive teams over the brackets, offering 'living' teams a walkover early on each round.

Flashing forward to this week, round 16 will prove another hurdle as the surviving teams rush onwards for those dwindling points. With the last two weeks' winners unavailable to the top four teams, it remains to be seen who will take home the victory this week.
