Testie wins Pan-American Championship!

All World Cyber Games national representatives from the ten WCG participating countries in America have been invited to take part in an invitational tournament. The winner of the StarCraft tournament comes home with $1.500.



This past Friday the event took place in Mexico, where they had a tournament between ten players who represented their countries at the World Cyber Games 2006. Unfortunately, because of a lack of news about this event, nobody represented the United States for this event. Here is the official comment by the American World Cyber Games website:

The WCG2006 Pan - American Championship is a Pan – America regional festival which includes various kinds of activities such as invitational tournaments, game exhibition, cultural party, city tour and etc. All WCG national representatives from 10 WCG participating countries in America are invited to take part in this festival hosted by Mexico City.

The first round of each game title will be "Round Robin" and then the winners from first rounds will compete in a single elimination format. WCG 2006 Grand Final rules will be applied.

The group stage did not give many special surprises, apart from SlaSh winning over StYm in the group stage. ZergRaptor and lastgosu did not take part. Testie went up against StYm in the semi final, and Darki against the Colombian player SlaSh.

After some really nice results during the World Cyber Games, Testie finished in the top 8 after being defeated by Midas. In addition, he did not lose a match during the group full league. He won this event and earns $1,500. Colombia Felipe "SlaSh" Cruz ended in second place with $300. The third and fourth spots were for Mexico Jorge "StYm" Teja and Peru Alfredo "Darki" Zegarra.
