mouz Latvian star: 'I am trying to get some cash'

Andrew "westside" Kalninsh, also know as Cool2die seems to be on everybody's mind lately. He joined the top foreign StarCraft team just a few days ago, he wins against players like Sen and Mondragon and his 2vs2 skills are recognizable almost everywhere.

- I started playing Protoss in 2004 and after that changed race to Zerg just a few months before WCG Latvia. I took 4th place but my clanmate gave me a trip to the Baltic finals. I had won with everybody there and went to Singapore and had a fantastic time.
Anyway, at that time StarCraft was still like hobby for me... I won a couple of WCGs again, I was in USA too. And then I thought it's the time for retirement but the game itself was still like a drug to me. I'm still addicted to it. I started playing 2vs2s so I improved my 2vs2 skills very fast. That's all I can say about what happened until now.

You have joined mouz just a few days ago. Could you explain why did you decide to change your clan?
- I thought about myself and my status in fOsc. I joined them to be a main 2vs2 player, but I still had to play 1vs1 clanwars all year long. This situation was not really that bad, but is sad when you see always the same lineup without any changes. If you can't come, then you postpone your game anyway.

Despite that, fOsc is a great team, I met good friends there, thanks to yan mostly. I wanted to play in mouz because it's organized team with the discipline. I hope I will be able to show good results in this team. I am not sure yet, but maybe I will practice some more 1vs1s to become stronger.

What do you think about your new team and how do you feel there?
- I feel like I'm new there, that's all. I'm trying to find some partners for 2vs2s. The atmosphere is really good and all players are mannered. Managers are nice too.

There are 3 other 2vs2 players in mouz. Who will be your main partner then?
- I still don't know. I will play shuffle 1v1 and 2v2s. Nizzy, Lee, Belladona, they are all my friends. I played with them some ladder games many times before, so I guess I can play with anyone. Belladona and Nizzy are Zerg players and I am mostly 2vs2 Zerg player too. But still, I can play any race as can Lee, so it would be better if we play with Lee in the pair. But I don't care, I think it's not a big problem for the 2vs2 lineup.

Many people say that you left fOsc and joined Mouz for money. Is that correct ?
- It's true I guess, especially since we live in the crisis times. There are huge problems on the Latvia's labor market, so I am trying to get some cash any possible way. I think I didn't do anything bad, everyone would do same on my place.

You defeated many top-notch players recently. Could you tell us more about your achievements? Which of your victories are you most proud of?
- I don't know how to explain how that happens, when you practice only 2vs2s and still can win against strong 1vs1 players. One day I just woke up and understood the sense of this game. Mostly timing tricks. I feel like I have a maphack sometimes, and I know in my mind that this will be good chance to kill or something, and mostly all my games are nonmacro type.

I'm a micro player and maybe it is also what helps me to be a good 1vs1 player. Usually I don't give big attention to 1vs1 games, but I remember some of my games pretty good, e.g. my last game vs Sen on Fighting Spirit when I won in a 90% lost game.
