The Collegiate Starleague drama: First there was one, now there is two

Changes, Good News & Bad News - That's the Collegiate Starleague in a nutshell right now. Last week, GosuGamers reported that this much appreciated foreign league who last spring applied the concept of the Korean Proleague to the format of American college sports with much success was now getting ready to launch its second season. It still is, but there has been a lot of recent changes.

It has become known to GosuGamers that due to a shift within the top leadership of the CSL there has now been a split, and two new leagues have formed out of the old one. Few details are known at the moment, but this much is certain: a lot of controversy erupted on the TL-forums regarding the fact that the original CSL would have a registration fee of $5 per person. Allegedly, the two project leaders (and owners of the corporation they had formed to back the CSL) were not able to agree upon whether or not to continue with this approach, and so they split up.

Those are the changes. The good news are that the community will potentially have two collegiate leagues to join and follow, creating more fun for everyone. The less good news are that the scheduled All Star Match will be postponed until further notice, as will the launch of the actual season(s). GosuGamers have however been given reliable information that at least one incarnation of the CSL will prevail and organize a tournament similar to that of last season, if not bigger. That one, it is clear beyond any doubt, will not have any registration fee.

As soon as more information is available, it will be posted here on GosuGamers first. Much of the drama can be followed through the links to the TL-forums below, but this article is based on behind-the-scenes information that is not public. On behalf of this site, good luck-wishes are sent to both CSLs.
