The culling of the APEX super week is nearing completion

Tomorrow, the full line-up of Korean teams will be decided.

Flash Lux and Afreeca Freecs Red have come a step closer to the coveted APEX main event seed. A clash between the two on April 14 will decide which team will join X6-Gaming, Mighty AOD, CONBOX Spirit and MVP Space out of Challenger and into Premier ahead of Season 3’s start on April 28.

Flash Lux are continuing to have yo-yoing results and if they succeed to get out of the losers group of Super Week, it will be their third time competing in APEX, but the team is yet to prove they are worth more than perennial relegation status. Flash were dominant with a 3-1 against MVP Infinity and have already beaten Afreeca Red in the previous round of super week so it is possible they make a return to the upper echelons of the league. However, having the second worst result of last season is nothing to be proud of and if Flash are to even come close to repeating RunAway’s miraculous rise from relegation to grand finals, they will have to do much better. The same is of course true for Afreeca Freecs Red, who have much work to do to catch up to their blue sisters.

Unfortunately for at least one of Rhinos Gaming Wings and MVP Infinity, tomorrow will bring elimination. Wings are the last remaining Challenger team that is still looking for APEX promotion, after X6, Mighty AOD and MVP Space are already through. Wings came second in the Challenger race and were expected to do well—or at least better than facing elimination in the losers group—and will have to hope that Hee-Seong “Easybro” Choi doesn't find his stride.

The six super week winners will join the top eight from the previous season as well as two foreign invites, so far rumored to be Rogue and NRG Esports.
