Nescho Topalov, licence holder of the ESWC in Germany, has revealed that there are offers on the table to buy the ESWC brand off of Game Services which filed for bankruptcy earlier this week. Topalov also states that the new buyer may not host tournaments afterwards although he considers the Electronic Sports World Cup as “One of the most popular eSports brands for fans.”

Since NVIDIA decided to withdraw its sponsorship in December, ESWC has had no luck in finding a new head sponsor for 2009. Having no sponsor in addition with the current worldwide economic crisis, Games Services had no choice but to file for bankruptcy and go into liquidation earlier this week. The company also owes thousands of dollars in prize money which may give them a bad reputation for future events.
