ESWC Asia Masters in Cheonan

This May, the Electronic Sports World Cup will host a 'Masters' event in the city of Cheonan, Korea. This is the first time ESWC enter the Asian market. Aside from the regular games Counter-Strike and Warcraft 3, StarCraft is also apparent in the game list.



The press release boasts with 550 gamers from 15 countries. For the Warcraft 3 competition the ESWC organizing committee will select players commonly, while the StarCraft tournament will be based on continental qualifications for 3 continents, combining Asia, Europe, North and South America.

The press release do not shed much light on the qualification process, but GosuGamers understands that one player from each continent will be granted a spot in the Masters event - as well as an invited Korean player. More information is said be announced soon.

As per usual, the first place finishers in the Warcraft 3 tournament will achieve full accommodation and a seeded spot in the Grand Finals, while the second and third place will receive seeds as well but no accommodation.

The prize pools are $15,000 USD for Warcraft 3 and $9,000 USD for StarCraft.

The tournament venue will be the Yu Gwansun Gymnasium and Cheonan Sports Complex. The tournament kicks off on May 2 and will go on for four days.
