The first half of Version Luna VII will quite literally make your wallet cry.
Genshin Impact's Version Luna VII is dropping on 20 May, and with this new update come the banners of Nicole and Durin!
Nicole is set up to become a premiere support you don't want to miss out on, but Durin is also one you wouldn't want to skip if you've unfortunately missed out on his initial debut. These two characters in particular are gearing up to become incredibly valuable units for Genshin Impact's current metagame… so our condolences to your bank account if you've yet to pull for Durin–this is one tough banner lineup to pick and choose from.
But if you're weighing your options and really have no choice but to bite the bullet and choose one or the other, then don't worry, we've got you covered!
Should you pull Nicole in Genshin Impact Version Luna VII?
Nicole is looking to be an incredibly valuable off-field support, as the livestream revealed that her kit works with providing attack-increasing party-wide increases if she is included in a rotation. Additionally, her shielding is a valuable asset for on-field characters who also need another layer of protection from enemy attacks.
Nicole is likely to scale her buffing with her total attack, making her a relatively easy character to build even with light investment. While her element, Pyro, already adds another factor as to why you should pull for her; Pyro is the most reactive element that deals arguably the most powerful damage, and generally synergises well with the rest of the elements in Genshin Impact.
Due to Nicole being part of the Hexenzirkel, she is able to undertake the Witch's Homework to unlock the Hexerei buff. The Hexerei buff provides an increase to Nicole's personal damage, elevating her from a simple support unit to a formidable sub-DPS when needed.
Pull for Nicole if: you're looking for a reliable off-field buffer, shielder, and supplementary damage dealer
Don't pull for Nicole if: you don't have Durin.
Should you pull Durin in Genshin Impact Version Luna VII?
Although Nicole is shaping up to be quite a support, it seems that Durin still edges her out when it comes to support capability. While Nicole focuses on increasing your party's attack, Durin gets into the nitty-gritty of elemental reactions–which, in current meta-game, seems to still be the current standard.
Durin is capable of lowering Pyro Resistance, as well as the specific elemental resistance in whatever Pyro-related reaction is triggered, making him incredibly versatile in a number of multi-elemental team compositions. Durin's Hexerei buff also caters to this valuable support capability, giving a whopping 75% increase for its duration.
By the looks of Nicole's kit, she actually may act as a buffer to Durin when paired together in team compositions.
It's obvious that Durin's capabilities are nothing to scoff at. In this banner cycle, it's important to have Durin in your party before even considering adding Nicole to your roster.
Pull for Durin if: you don't have him, because he's a valuable character in current meta rotations.
Don't pull for Durin if: you already have Durin. His Constellation 1 is essentially a budget version of Nicole's buffing capability. It's better to have Nicole for that.
