Overwatch 2 reveals new support hero Lifeweaver, coming in Season 4

Overwatch 2’s latest hero seems to be a Thai support character named Lifeweaver.

Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled Overwatch 2’s next hero: Lifeweaver. The free-to-play shooter’s new support hero will make his debut in its upcoming fourth season of content, which should launch next week - though no firm release date has been confirmed yet.

Although Blizzard hasn’t spilled all the details on its 37th hero, an announcement image hints that Lifeweaver hails from Southeast Asia - specifically Thailand, going by the lotus flower floating in the palm of his hand and mandala-patterned flower petals on his back. The map background from the picture also seems to be Ayutthaya, an in-game Capture The Flag map set in Thailand.

We also know that Lifeweaver will fit into the support role in Overwatch 2’s roster, seeing as the game’s development team confirmed a while back that the next two heroes to hit the game after Ramattra would be support characters. This means that Lifeweaver will be Overwatch 2’s second healer after Kiriko, with another one set to arrive in Season 6.

Judging by a roadmap Blizzard had previously outlined for Overwatch 2, Season 4 (which should launch around April 11) will add a new playable hero, a fresh battle pass full of cosmetics, and a few in-game events to boot. Season 5 should add a new map, and Season 6 will add another hero - that’s the rhythm the development team is trying to keep up for now.

As with all of Overwatch 2’s new post-launch heroes, you’ll probably have to grind up to Level 50 to unlock Lifeweaver, or do a few Hero Missions next season if you don’t get that far. Blizzard will release more information on Lifeweaver tomorrow, so check back in for our coverage when that happens.
