Empire wins The Premier League

After a lengthy season three, The Premier League is finished for now with Empire claiming the top title. Empire played solid throughout the playoffs, beating VP twice in a row, both in Winner Bracket final and the Grand final.

The top four teams from the season (FnaticRC, Team Empire, Team Dignitas, Virtus Pro) played out the Double Elimination playoffs this weekend. VirtusPro, the team coming from the tiebreaker managed to reach the Grand Final vs the favourites of Team Empire. The favoured game style is different from what we saw in G-League recently, teams in Europe still favour Wisp and picks it very early in the draft - whereas Chinese teams did not pick it at all. On the other side, Lone Druid wasn't picked by any team other than Fnatic. Certain heroes are noticeable favoured by certain teams. FnaticRC often went for Lone Druid as mentioned, whereas Dignitas was often seen with Queen of Pain. VirtusPro had a lot of Prophets and Lunas and Empire their signature Wisp play. Both these two Russian teams also made use of Chaos Knight and Undying.

In the end, Empire came out on top, only losing one map the entire playoffs. Listen to the winner interview with Blow, where he mentions that his team was laughing when Virtus.Pro picked Zeus as their last pick in the final game. Also, check out the playoff VODs of the weekend.
