MLBB gets some huge changes for 2022

As 2022 kicks off, Moonton have announced some big changes coming to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with Matchmaking, Emblem, and Hero changes all on the cards.

In a video released a few days ago, Moonton confirmed that 2022 would see some massive changes in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. This includes long awaited revamps to some of the older heroes, a major update to the Emblem system, a better Artificial Intelligence system, and some rather interesting additions to matchmaking balancing. While some of the new systems are still in their early stages, others seem ready to roll out, and we are excited to see just where they take the game.

Matchmaking

In any team related game, there are often players who “troll” or choose not to play with the team – and this is extremely frustrating. Although report systems do exist, they may not always work in your favour, and the same player can quickly end up on your team again. For this, Moonton have implemented a new system which will allow you to “Blacklist” a player, essentially banning them from ever being matched with you again.

Apart from this, Moonton will also be giving players the chance to “Dodge” a game, without penalty, if a player feels that their team’s lineup is unreasonable. However, while Moonton have not really stated what this “unreasonable” factor might be, we can only assume that it has to do with too many of a single roll – or possibly the lack of a roll. This Dodge mechanic will be prevalent during the drafting phase, but it is also unclear as to how many times a player will be able to use this. We will have to wait and see just how this feature is implemented and utilised at a later date.

Revamping

There are a fair few revamps on the cards for MLBB this year, from Heroes, to Equipment, to Emblems. Back in June of 2021, the equipment revamp was one of the most important changes to the game which we have seen in some time, with new items becoming highly effective in the short time since then. It seems that Moonton will continue to work on this, adding in new equipment and adjusting others, aiming to increase the variety of build options even more. Roamers and Junglers seem to be the first to benefit from this, with different passives from both Retribution and Boots on the table.

Next up on the revamp board is the heroes, with Moonton having already worked on a few last year, which saw them climb to new heights at M3 and in the regional MPL tournaments. However, in 2022, two heroes that have long needed the revamp treatment are finally getting it: Faramis and Vexana, with later revamps to Hanabi and Akai looking to be on the cards.

Finally on the revamp side of things is the Emblem System – which is said to have some major optimisations in the works. While visual updates are coming, Moonton stated that they will be making Emblems more straightforward, while creating more in-depth builds. However, much like a few of the other upcoming changes, there is not a large amount of information on this, and we will have to await the changes in-game to really understand what is going on.

Artificial Intelligence

Last, but certainly not least, is the AI system. This system collects and learns from your game data, evaluating your skill level as you play. With the addition of this to the MLBB matchmaking, players will be more likely to be matched with others of their skill levels, with different roles to the ones which they play – which means less confusion, and a better game for everyone.

There is definitely a lot to take in when it comes to the upcoming changes for MLBB, but all of these are very exciting and work towards giving every player the best possible experience. We are excited to see how all these changes, revamps, reworks, and new aspects come together in 2022 as Moonton look to take MLBB to new heights.
