The final four of the LEC Summer Split comes down to the wire

It's a three-way battle with only two spots left in the LEC Season Finals.

The LEC Summer Split is coming to an end with just four teams left standing for two spots in the LEC Season Finals. Both G2 Esports and Excel Esports will start in the upper bracket finals of the playoffs after they both topped the group stage. As Team Heretics and Fnatic placed second, they will face-off against one another in the lower bracket semifinals.

As it stands, only G2 have a confirmed slot in the LEC Season Finals after they won the LEC Winter Split earlier in the year. They are joined by the LEC Spring Split winners MAD Lions, as well as Team BDS and Team Vitality, who made it to the LEC Season Finals through championship points. This leaves just the summer split winner alongside one final team via championship points.

With only two spots remaining in the LEC Season Finals, it is coming down to the wire for teams like Excel, Fnatic, and Heretics. Excel will be hoping to knock G2 down to the lower bracket final, as this will not only secure them a spot in the LEC Season Finals, but it will also put them within a shout of lifting the Summer Split title. And given Excel's run this year that included two last-place finishes during the Winter and Spring Split.

For Fnatic and Heretics, it will be a battle to the death in the lower bracket semifinal as both teams are tied on championship points for now. Whoever wins the best-of-five in a few days time will be within a shout of making it to the LEC Season Finals. Both teams have had disappointing results this season, which included two bottom three finishes in the past two splits. This will be the time for both Fnatic and Heretics to redeem itself, especially with championship points and a spot in the LEC Season Finals on the line.

Both series will be a best-of-five with only G2 and Excel having a lower bracket to fall to. G2 and Excel's match-up will take place later today at midnight GMT+8 while the lower bracket semifinal will happen on July 29 at midnight GMT +8. The date and time for the lower bracket final will be determined once the series between G2 and Excel have finished.
