CLG Lead NA LCS After 2-0 Start

CLG started the NA LCS with two wins from two games and top the table after the opening weekend.

Counter Logic Gaming got their NA LCS campaign off to the perfect start this weekend with wins over Cloud 9 and Team Liquid. They even came from behind against last Split’s runners-up to claim a somewhat unexpected victory. Down 1-0, Huhi went off in games two and three, with his trademark Aurelion Sol going 7/0/10 in the final game of the series.

Against Team Liquid, CLG’s mid laner didn’t need to put in such a stellar performance. His team led game one from the first real team fight around 18 minutes in. Game two’s gold graph tells you almost everything you need to know about a fairly comfortable win for CLG. They had the advantage early in the game and never let it go.

But while CLG started things off with two wins from two, Cloud 9’s opening weekend was exactly the opposite. They followed defeat to CLG with another one at the hands of Team Solo Mid. In a re-match of the Spring Split finals, TSM were able to show the staying power that helped them grind out a win in that series. Doublelift seemed to slip back into his old jersey with no qualms, though he was far from the superstar this time around. Bjergsen’s 8/1/6 Syndra in game two made team fighting easy for his team when he was able to more or less one-shot an opponent. Cloud 9 didn’t go down without a fight in either game, and even looked to have flipped TSM’s advantage on its head in game one, but in the league standings they still have an ugly zero in the W column.

Fellow title hopefuls Flyquest suffered a surprising defeat in their opening match against Echo Fox. League of Legends veteran, Froggen showed he still has some tricks in a battle of the old-school mid laners. The Dane went 15/5/7 across the two games against Hai, but it was a strong team performance from Echo Fox that really made the difference.

TSM play their second game tonight against Immortals, who also won their first match of the season. Three other games take place this evening to end opening week. Flyquest are looking to bounce back from a surprise loss to Echo Fox when they face Dignitas, who won their opener over Envy. Envy themselves will face fellow 0-1 team Phoenix 1 in their game and Team Liquid close the weekend out for America when they face Echo Fox.
