Cloud 9 Lives up to the hype, underdogs prevail

The first game in the summer split of the North American LCS was a rematch of the Spring finals. Both teams started the game rather passively with ward coverage everywhere. However much like in the spring split, both teams opted for that 3 man tower dive to the solo lanes as soon as possible. Although noone died in the ganks it became obvious that TSM had the advantage afterwards with Reginald doubling the farm of Shiphtur.

TSM soon continued to push that advantage as they took a 6 minute dragon. TC was not going to let TSM just steamroll them as they soon dove a tower themselvs, coming out of it with a 3 unanswered kills along with destroying a tower to start catching up on the gold lead that TSM had. Soon afterwards TSM showed viewers that gold is power as they started to solely focus upon global gold. With a massive lead in gold, the fights soon shifted in their favor. The game ended with Reginald getting a delayed Quadra and an ace to TC. TSM was rewarded with a baron and the first victory of the summer split.

The second match of the day was another playoffs rematch as Vulcun took on Curse Gaming. This game also was the debut of Gambit Gaming's former star support, Edward transitioning from EU to NA. Similarly to game 1, both teams played rather passively during level 1 stand off, however Vulcun invested heavily into wards in order to know exactly what was going on in the Curse jungle and the movement of the Curse jungler, Saintvicious.

At 3 minutes into the game SychoSid decided to go in strong against Voyboy with a lucky last hit before the flash and with the final ignite tick, SychoSid managed to grab the first kill of the game. CRS had decided to go for a full poke comp and it proved to be their downfall. Vulcun completely dominated Curse as they managed to start fights under the Curse towers over and over again.
