The creators are feeling the pressure to deliver for the next season.
A second season of Dispatch is under discussion at AdHoc Studio, but the team says the conditions around a follow-up would be very different than the first time around.
In an interview with Eurogamer, lead writer and co-founder Pierre Shorette described the challenge of returning after a long development cycle. He compared it to music, where creators have years to shape a debut but far less time to deliver the follow-up. Season 1 took around seven years to make, a timeline he described as unusually long, adding that the studio will not have that same luxury again if it moves ahead with Season 2.
Shorette said the studio is aware of demand and wants to respond to it, but that comes with added pressure. He summed up the situation as "a lot of pressure", explaining that a second season would be defined as much by restraint as ambition. "It'll be about what it's not as much as what it is."
Season 2 talks are getting serious
Despite the concerns, the possibility of continuing Dispatch is being discussed in earnest. Shorette said the idea of Season 2 is being treated "as seriously as anything".
During the same interview, he referenced a cut Kpop idol-inspired character called Winter, along with a dropped love triangle storyline. Shorette joked that those ideas could still return, saying, "We should do that for Season 2," before quickly adding, "If there is a Season 2!"
Dispatch game director and studio co-founder Nick Herman also addressed the studio’s current silence on what comes next. He said players have been vocal about wanting answers, noting that "people are mad that we haven't told them what we're doing".
Herman explained that much of the team’s focus since launch has been on supporting the game, but said the studio is now close to having the time needed to properly map out future plans and "lay those plans out".
He also reflected on how expectations have shifted. According to Herman, Season 1 launched with "zero expectations" from the outside, allowing players to experience it without speculation or preconceptions. If a second season goes ahead, he said that absence of pressure will no longer exist, calling it an added challenge.
Dispatch has sold around 2 million copies and built a dedicated fanbase. Its development path included an earlier phase as a live-action television project and the loss of a publisher partway through production. More details on that process, along with cut characters and story ideas, were shared in the full interview with Eurogamer.
Dispatch is coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
The superhero workplace has also reportedly appeared on the Nintendo eShop for Switch and Switch 2, where it is available to pre-order. The listing in Australia also includes a 29 January 2026 release date. For Nintendo Switch 2 owners, a free upgrade pack will provide enhanced resolution and improved frame rates. Plans for an Xbox Series X|S launch has not been revealed yet.
