Day one of Mid-Season Brawl packed with upsets

In the first day of group stages of the Mid-Season Brawl we were treated to some fierce, and utterly surprising results with Nomia showing what they're made of, Roll20 pulling off a perfect game against MVP Black, and Estar showing Dignitas who's on top.

Fnatic v. Deadlykittens 2-0

Fnatic shows why they are possibly the best team in EU. Using strategic drafting, coordination, and strong map control Fnatic wins their matchup 2-0, not to mention using a surprising Samuro draft in game 1.

Nomia v. Super Perfect Team 2-0

Australia/New Zealand has gotten a lot of bad rap as a much weaker region, but as the teams persist, so do their results. While Super Perfect Team was not the original team for this match (replacing team CE due to visa issues) they still aimed to come out on top and represent China. As the top ANZ team, Nomia's aim for the Mid-Season Brawl is to prove they can compete with the rest of the world. They certainly proved that on day one.

Debuting D.Va for the day, Nomia's draft in game one was powerful as they owned the battleground and commanded a strong macro game. Taking the first win not only raised some eyebrows but also shut down the critics.

Looking to take the series, Nomia went with D.Va again in game two while SPT attempted the "unkillable" Valla composition. As Nomia held a strong two level lead and controlled the shrines, they took the easy 2-0 win over their Chinese enemies.

MVP Black v. Roll20 1-1

MVP Black has been known to test the waters and play a bit complacent in the international scene. Meanwhile, Roll20 brings their very best right out of the gate as they rolled over MVP Black on Tomb of the Spider Queen with their Diablo, Medivh, comp, looking unstoppable by minute 12. MVP Black begins playing much safer going into game 2, securing a previously expected victory.

Tempo Storm v. Red Canids 2-0

Although Red Canids play aggressively, Tempo Storm performs consistently with strong macro play and better control in team fights.

L5 v. Soul Torturers, 2-0

While Soul Torturers (former Please Buff Arthas) put up a decent fight, Korea's 2016 BlizzCon Champion won the set in excellent fashion.

Dignitas v. Estar, 0-2

Dignitas is known for consistent play but Estar proves their past inconsistency holds no bearing in 2017, winning 0-2 with their standard play, a little D.Va, and a dash of  Chinese bush meta.

Day two continues Sunday at 14:00 CEST with some sets that are sure to be just as wild as day one! You can catch all the action on twitch.tv/blizzheroes
