Blizzard ANZ unveils plans for competitive HotS in the region for 2017

Australia and New Zealand have had few opportunities to compete over the past months, but that will change with the HGC season starting next year.

Although not big enough to get its own fully-fledged league just yet, Blizzard's announced plans for competitive Heroes of the Storm in the region is a step in the right direction. In promising more frequent competition, which the scene has sorely lacked, there is the hope that it will boost the overall play in the region, and to ensure that which ever team makes it to the top will be better prepared for the international stage.

Blizzard ANZ are teaming up with the two major players when it comes to the local HotS scene, ANZHeroes and Gamestah, for the running of these events. There will be two qualifiers for teams to go through, with Gamestah's being a four week league and ANZHeroes running the usual one day event for theirs.

Two teams from each qualifier will go through to the ANZ finals and the winner of that will represent the region at the Western Clash. Sign ups for both events are now open, and with the most dominant team at the time, Reborn, disbanding not long after Blizzcon, the opportunity is there for newer teams looking to make a name for themselves.

More information relating to each event such as casting talent/teams/etc will be revealed as we get closer to them.
