The Heroes player named Srey, known for his past criticisms of the MMR system and consistent holder of the #1 spot on Blizzard's solo queue ranking, authors another list of criticisms.
There are a couple of interesting things about the #1 ranked hero league player, Srey. For starters, his HotsLogs account shows out of 3,123 games, only 58 of them are played as a support hero. He maintains a positive winrate against every hero (the lowest being around 61% against the Lost Vikings) and, for some reason, his win rate against Erho is only 37%. Perhaps this is explained by Erho's love of Stitches and the inability for even the cleverest of solo-queue savants to stop their allies from getting hooked to death.
Simply put, Srey is well qualified to talk about the solo queue experience. Just moments ago, he published this essay on Reddit concerning the problems he declares are "single-handedly holding the game back." Most of the arguments are things long time Heroes community members are aware of, but considering who is saying them (and the sincerity behind his words), it's hard not to support his cause.
I suggest you read it yourself, but here are some of the quick talking points:
- Hero League needs bans.
- "360 yolo" match making (when it automatically matches you with anyone after 6 minutes) needs to be removed.
- The need for draft modes for parties of any size
- Situations where 4,000+ MMR players are matched with less than 300 MMR players.
- Needing to win 8-10 games to make up the point loss after losing 1 game.
Srey previous wrote another essay, giving advice on how he achieves such a high rank and specific solo queue advice for fellow lone warriors.
