Blizzard finally formally releases the anticipated Diablo-themed Battleground.

The map will be released as part of the Eternal Conflict patch, coming out soon. The map is a two lane map, with the trademark secret corridors and creep camps throughout the map. The map starts with an Immortal for both teams. The objective is to kill the opponents' Immortal while keeping your alive. Should you suceed, the Immortal will push the opponents lane down.

The Immortals will first spawn at 1:45 mark and will start at level 3, therefore soaking experience in the early game is critical. Within the middle circle there are four random spawning spots for the Immortals, preventing teams from pre-emptively setting up (think Gazlowe). Once an Immortal wins, it will push the stronger lane in. The more health the Immortal has at victory, the stronger the Immortal will be.

As there will only be about 1:45 between Immortal spawn times, the Immortals will be the primary focus area in this battleground. Given this, heroes like Lost Vikings and Gazlowe could see higher play on the battleground. This map in particular also has various hidden areas so vision is critical.

The Battleground will also feature a new Fallen Shaman mercenary camp. The shaman have two hounds that will resurrect until the Shamn himself is killed. There will also be a new Siege mercenary that does bonus damage against buildings.
