Hunter wins three in a row as Tempo Storm wipe Cloud9 in Trinity Series

Storm cracked the clouds as Gaara piloted Rexxar to a 6-1 finish for Tempo.

Hunter has been on the Trinity Series bench for a long time. Considered the current worst class in the game, it was self-banned in almost all matches but one before the mid-point of the Trinity Series. The only team that dared bring him to the battlefield was Cloud9, piloting Rexxar to a mediocre 1-1 record.

That’s why Tempo Storm’s decision to leave Hunter open in their match against C9 raised eyebrows. Down 1-2 in matches, Tempo Storm couldn’t really afford to take big risks coming into the halfway point of the ESL team league, especially considering how their previous Handlock and Pirate Paladin experiments failed to deliver.

Not only did Rexxar not flop for Tempo, however, but it won them the match in convincing fashion. TS had a plan, you see: They knew Hunter is only ever good against control decks where it’s given enough time to persistently Steady Shot and they waited until all Cloud9 had left was slow archetypes. On the back of their three Jade Druid wins and playing Hunter against passive decks, Tempo’s 6-1 easily dispersed the clouds.

On the top of the table, G2 played Luminosity in a classic EU vs. NA showdown. Both teams missed their shot at coming into week four undefeated (G2 losing to Cloud9 and LG to complexity) and sparred to determine who will hold the temporary runner-up spot behind coL’s flawless record.

Jade Druid played a major part in this series as well, as Lifecoach played it to a 3-0 lead for G2 right off the bat. Never letting go of their lead, G2’s run culminated in a 6-4 victory over the NA super team and at +9 tie-breaker score, G2 are certain to regain their #1 spot should complexity lose to Team Liquid in tonight’s match.
