Singapore Majors to be the Southeast Asia region’s first for 2016

Asia-Pacific Hearthstone players finally have the chance to earn some local HCT points in this weekend’s Singapore major competition.

Riding in hot on the coat tails of the recently concluded Winter preliminaries, the SEA Majors 2016 will offer 256 Hearthstone players a shot at taking home their winning share of 43 allotted HCT points, and a $5,000 prize pool. The double-elimination bracket features the top 32 players of the region, five of whom received a paid trip to the competition after topping a community poll in their country. The winning names include Thai GosuCup grand finalist Sanya “Ledah” Niruttinanont, Malaysia’s Asia-Pacific 2015 qualifier Renjay “Zadkiel” Avila and Yew Weng “wkyew” Kean of team Immortals Gaming.

In terms of format, you can expect a full schedule of best-of-5 matches, with each player having the opportunity to ban one of the other’s 4 classes. In hosting duties, the veteran team of Lothar and Azumoqt are to be joined by Pathra; a Thai/Kiwi streamer representing the local talent of the Asia-Pacific region.

The SEA Majors 2016 will begin streaming this Friday via the HearthstoneSEA Twitch Channel.
