GosuCup SEA is one of the biggest open Hearthstone tournaments for the Southeast Asian region, with $500 and 52 HWC points each week. And these are the decks that conquered the latest edition.
This Saturday, Lan “Neilyo” Tran was crowned the fourth champion of GosuCup SEA. For his home country of Vietnam, that also meant having a second GosuCup winner and getting a major jump in the nation standings, catching up to the leaders of Singapore and the Philippines.
During the semi and grand finals, Neilyo impressed us with his quick thought process, even though his decks suggested a slow tempo of playing. One of his primary decks was a [card]Molten Giant[/card]-infused Demonlock, with lots of power in the late game, also including [card]Dread Infernal[/card], [card]Dr Boom[/card] and [card]Mal'Ganis[/card].
Warlock’s friends in the line-up were a standard Freeze Mage and a variation of the oil Rogue where one copy of [card]Sprint[/card] was replaced with [card]Gadgetzan Auctioneer[/card]. You might think it’s unorthodox and clunky. Neilyo thinks that it’s awesome when you get a nice trigger off of [card]Emperor Thaurissan[/card].

In comparison, Neilyo’s opponent in the grand finals Renjay “Zadkiel” Avila chose more minion-based, proactive decks. He elected to play a [card]Sea Giant[/card] Zoo and a standard fast Druid, while also going for the flavor of the month – a [card]Grim Patron[/card] Warrior. That’s right, no more resident sleeper games.
