Here are some of the most interesting custom card designs of last week

How to participate in the contest?

It's extremely simple.

1) Use any card generator webpage to make a legendary card of any type between 0 and 3 mana
2) Send it to [email protected] with the subject "Card design contest"
3) ???
4) Profit!
5) The winner, runner-up and bronze medalist will win a Hearthstone pillow, mug and keychain, respectively

Disclaimer: The cards shown in this article are in no way ahead of the competition in terms of scores or chances of winning. They have been subjectively selected to present a small part of the submissions we received during the first week. Enjoy them, get inspired by them, create your own cards and send them to us.

Last week, we entered the fifth month of our card design contest as we gave you another task – design an early game legendary card, costing between 0 and 3 mana. There was no additional limitation – card designers could submit not only minions, but also weapons and even spells.

Below, we highlight a small part of the first week of submissions.

Mechs and spare parts

Mechs were one of the defining tribals of Goblins vs Gnomes and became the leading archetype of classes such as Mage and Shaman. With incredible synergy between its minions, the mechs could snowball the board swiftly and to this day remain one of the most difficult midrange decks to beat.

One of your custom designs is Fixmester Krank, a gnome with a [card]Reincarnate[/card] effect but for Mechs. Why would you want to just heal a damaged Mech, you ask? Think about refreshing the divine shield on [card]Annoy-o-Tron[/card]. Or getting two blasts off of a Boombot. Or getting a spare part from [card]Mechanical Yeti[/card] for free. Now it sounds good, right?

Speaking of spare parts, one very elegant design is the Gnomish Gearworks. With its 0/4 stats and End-of-turn effect it will never work in an aggressive deck, but those of you who play [card]Flamewaker[/card] Mages on ladder will immediately appreciate it, I know that.

Bestial additions

I know what you hate more than mechs. It's beasts. The Hunter class is one to blame, of course, as its menagerie of minions have caused more table flips after a ladder loss than probably any other deck.

But what we have below is not a Hunter card, it's a Druid one. Designed by February contest winner Joren Kortekaas, Hamuul summons at the start of each turn one of [card]Webspinner[/card], [card]Timber Wolf[/card], [card]Hungry Crab[/card], [card]Angry Chicken[/card] or [card]Young Dragonhawk[/card], speaking about the current card pool, of course. Now, not all of these beasts are good, but remember - they are free. Maybe with this card, we could see more [card]Druid of the Fang[/card] in Druid decks.

The second card I'm showing you below is, well, chaotic. It's Ragnaros, but for 2 mana. I would like to see how it would actually behave in a game.

Trolls, elves and... pandas?

Below we see three fantastic characters from the Warcraft universe, though not really counted among the major ones.

We already have [card]Vol'jin[/card] as a card in Hearthstone but we haven't seen Sen'jin yet. Once the spiritual leader of the Darkspear tribe, the Witch Doctor comes to offer the Priest class a way to populate the board for free, if his opponent is greedy in drawing cards. 2/4 are not tough stats to deal with but imagine it buffed with a couple of Priest spells and suddenly classes like Warlock, Mage and Rogue will think twice before going on a card-draw spree.

Those of you who play Heroes of the Storm have probably encountered Lili Stormstout more than once and have chased her across the battlefield, trying to kill her, to no avail. Now, here we have her as a custom designed Hearthstone card. Lili's effect is simple: She can't be silenced. That's all, you ask? Yes. And now remember that the main reason for buff spells being so unpopular is the silence mechanic and fantasize about building a deck where you enchant Lili with the likes of [card]Blessing of Kings[/card] and/or [card]Velen's Chosen[/card] and let her beat the opponent to death with her fluffy paws.

Finally, there's Shandris Feathremoon, the fearless archer mentored by Tyrande Whisperwind herself. Being the fierce huntress that she is, Shandris' design fits her lore perfectly. It's all about drowning the enemy in arrows.

Patrons' best friend

To close this issue of the card contest spotlight, I have chosen a particularly powerful Warrior weapon, just to rustle your jimmies. Visualize how much you hate [card]Grim Patron[/card]s. Now, put that card in the deck:
