K/DA releases FIRESTARTER EP featuring DJ Sona, confirms Worlds 2026 performance

K/DA's new four-track EP features DJ Sona's return after 11 years, ahead of the group's Worlds 2026 performance.

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, has officially released K/DA's new four-track EP, FIRESTARTER, featuring a collaboration with DJ Sona and confirming the virtual pop group's upcoming performance at the 2026 League of Legends World Championship.

The EP arrives just days after K/DA made their long-awaited comeback with the title track "FIRESTARTER", their first piece of new music in six years. While the initial release introduced a new sound and look for Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai'Sa, the full EP reveals more of what Riot Games has planned for the group's return.

Joining returning artists MIYEON and SOYEON of i-dle are Sophie Powers and Mimi Webb, who provide the voices for Evelynn and Kai'Sa, respectively. The EP also marks the return of another familiar face from League of Legends' musical history, DJ Sona, who joins K/DA for one of its four tracks.

What songs are included in K/DA's FIRESTARTER EP?

FIRESTARTER features four songs, including the previously released title track, which was accompanied by an official music video produced by Fortiche Production, the animation studio behind Arcane and K/DA's original "POP/STARS" music video.

The complete tracklist is:

  • FIRESTARTER
  • WATCH ME
  • NEVER GOING BACK
  • GIRLS (with DJ Sona)

The new EP marks K/DA's first collection of music since ALL OUT in 2020, which featured songs such as "MORE", "THE BADDEST", and "VILLAIN".

According to Riot Games, FIRESTARTER represents a new chapter for the group, with its four members embracing a more mature musical and visual direction while retaining the identities that made them popular among League of Legends players. "With the FIRESTARTER EP, we wanted to respect what made people fall in love with K/DA while giving Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa the space to evolve as artists after all this time," said Maria Egan, Global Head of Music & Events at Riot Games.

The Firestarter MV already has more than 15 million views as of time of writing.

Egan added that the group would showcase its individual journeys through a new look, attitude, and a diverse collection of songs. Alongside its digital release on major streaming platforms, FIRESTARTER is also getting physical editions, including limited-edition CD variants and vinyl records, which are available for pre-order.

How is DJ Sona involved in K/DA's FIRESTARTER EP?

One of the biggest surprises on FIRESTARTER is the return of DJ Sona, who joins K/DA on the EP's fourth track, "GIRLS". For longtime League of Legends players, DJ Sona is a familiar name. Originally introduced in 2015 through Sona's Ultimate skin, DJ Sona reimagines the champion as an electronic dance music performer and producer, complete with three distinct musical forms: Kinetic, Concussive, and Ethereal.

The skin was particularly memorable for allowing players to switch between different music tracks during matches, with teammates also able to listen to DJ Sona's music in-game. Outside League of Legends, DJ Sona has also collaborated with electronic music artists such as The Crystal Method, Dada Life, and Pretty Lights. Her appearance on "GIRLS" marks the virtual artist's first return since 2015, bringing together two of Riot Games' musical projects for the first time.

When will K/DA and True Damage perform at Worlds 2026?

K/DA's comeback is not stopping with the release of FIRESTARTER. Riot Games has also confirmed that the group will perform at the Worlds 2026 Opening Ceremony, presented by Mastercard, on Saturday, 14 November, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The group will be joined by True Damage, Riot Games' virtual hip-hop collective, which debuted in 2019 with "GIANTS". The group features League of Legends champions Akali, Ekko, Qiyana, Senna, and Yasuo, with SOYEON also having performed as Akali for both K/DA and True Damage.

This will mark another major Worlds appearance for K/DA, who first debuted on the international stage during the Worlds 2018 Opening Ceremony with "POP/STARS". Their performance helped introduce the group to audiences beyond League of Legends, eventually turning K/DA into one of Riot Games' most recognisable virtual music acts.

Since their debut, K/DA have accumulated more than 2.7 billion global streams and 1.8 billion video views, while "POP/STARS" has earned platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The upcoming performance will take place ahead of the Worlds 2026 Grand Final, where the tournament's last two teams will battle for the Summoner's Cup and the title of world champion.
