A familiar name from The Witcher 3 modding scene is helping shape Geralt’s next return.
CD Projekt RED has enlisted one of The Witcher 3’s best-known modders to work on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. HalkHogan, creator of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project (HDRP), has confirmed their involvement in the upcoming remaster. Their PC mod has accumulated more than 320,000 unique downloads and 1.6 million views, with thousands of assets across the game reworked over the years.

In an update posted on Nexus Mods, HalkHogan confirmed that they are working directly with CD Projekt RED on The Witcher 3 Remastered. "I would like to clarify any questions and confirm that I am cooperating with CDPR on the Witcher 3 Remaster," HalkHogan said. They added that their work will be available when the remaster launches on 29 September for PC and consoles. "HDRP will no longer be needed."
HalkHogan also revealed just how much has been reworked for the remaster, including almost all in-game characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armour, and equipment for Geralt and Roach, alongside a large part of the environment. "I've put a lot of effort into ensuring the highest quality. :)" HalkHogan added.
The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project NextGen Edition already makes extensive changes to the original game, reworking thousands of assets, including textures, models, materials, and more. HalkHogan described it as "a project created from the heart" aimed at making the game more detailed, realistic, and consistent while staying as faithful as possible to the atmosphere of The Witcher’s world.
The Witcher 3 Remastered launches on 29 September
CD Projekt RED revealed The Witcher 3 Remastered during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, confirming a broader overhaul of the 2015 RPG.
The remaster includes new textures, updated rendering, advanced path tracing, and improved foliage. Combat is also getting a new camera and targeting system, additional animations, and new finishers. Other changes include reworked movement and Witcher Signs, improved Roach handling, changes to monster behaviour, and an updated skill tree.
The Witcher 3 Remastered launches on 29 September 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will be available as a free upgrade for existing owners on qualifying platforms.
