The Legend of Zelda’s upcoming live-action movie has cast Ganondorf.
Sony Picture Releasing and Nintendo’s upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has officially found its main villain. This week, Deadline reported that the film has cast Uli Latukefu in the movie as none other than Ganondorf, with the actor also being signed up for a multi-picture deal.
Additionally, the late Sam Neill has also been confirmed for a posthumous role in the movie.

Who is playing Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda movie?
Australian actor Uli Latukefu has been cast as The Legend of Zelda’s main villain Ganondorf. Ganondorf will once again play the role as Link and Princess Zelda’s primary threat in Hyrule, as he threatens to destroy the land’s peace–as he has done countless times before across Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda franchise.
Additionally, Deadline has confirmed several more cast members for the film: Yvonne Strahovsky, Dichen Lachman, and the late Sam Neill. While Strahovsky and Neill’s roles are currently unknown, Lachman is reportedly playing Impa, a returning character from the games, who serves as an advisor to Princess Zelda in this movie.
Neill’s casting is notable here, as it potentially marks his final onscreen movie role. The actor, who is perhaps best known as playing Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park franchise, passed away in July 2026. Neill has posthumous roles in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, The Legend of Zelda, and The Last Resort, all of which are set to hit theatres in 2027.
The Legend of Zelda also stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. The movie will premiere on 30 April, 2027. Additionally, Nintendo has confirmed an upcoming remake for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is set to launch later this year.
