Star Wars in Dungeons & Dragons? Never thought I’d see the day.
Wizards of the Coast had a series of announcements to make for the future of Dungeons & Dragons at this week's tabletop convention Gen Con 2026. The publisher announced an all-new Universes Beyond initiative that features crossovers with Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft, along with a Star Wars collab.

Is Dungeons & Dragons crossing over with Warcraft?
That’s right, Magic: The Gathering’s collab-packed Universes Beyond banner is now coming to Dungeons & Dragons. The initiative’s first crossover will be D&D: World of Warcraft, launching on 17 November, 2026. The expansion will give players the ability to either recreate their World of Warcraft characters or roll a new character, and face off against foes from the legendary MMORPG.
This tabletop expansion will include Warcraft’s legendary dungeons, adapted for Dungeons & Dragons’ format. An Icecrown Citadel Map Pack is also available, allowing access to an iconic Azeroth raid with full-size poster maps and tokens usable with an included digital adventure that brings characters from level 16 to level 20 as they challenge a dozen high-level bosses.
On top of that, Dungeons & Dragons is also getting a surprise crossover with Star Wars in 2027. While Darth Vader made an appearance during the keynote to announce the collab, no other details were given.
Dungeons & Dragons Icons announcements
Fans also got a few more updates on the future of Dungeons & Dragons, including a suite of new products for Dark Sun, which is a more mature post-apocalyptic setting for the game. This line will come with books and accessories themed after Dark Sun.
Dungeons & Dragons: Icons was also announced, bringing together longtime creative makers from the tabletop’s history back for new products. This includes a new Dragonlance TTRPG book, with Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman working together on the product. Luke Gygax (D&D creator Gary Gygax’s son) is also making a new adventure from incomplete content left behind by his father, releasing in 2027.
RA Salvator is also bringing back Drizzt Do Urden–a legendary Drow in D&D lore–while Joe Manganiello is launching a dark fantasy TTRPG universe based on the streetwear line DEATH SAVES, as an official Icons collab.
What is Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen?
Gen Con’s reveals didn’t stop there. A brand-new tabletop adventure called Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen was also revealed. In this adventure, players will decide Greyhawk’s fate amid the return of Drelnza, a vampire daughter of Iggwilv the Witch Queen. Tasha in Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons
The upcoming Dungeons & Dragons game Warlock also got an interesting reveal at Gen Con 2026. Actor Maggie Robertson is officially playing Tasha in the game via voice and performance capture. Resident Evil fans might best remember her voice as that of Lady Dimitrescu, an infamous vampire mother from Resident Evil Village.
Additionally, Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) is playing the game’s lead Kaatri. The single-player game developed by Invoke Studios follows Kaatri as she makes a pact to fight against dark powers using otherworldly magic. A gameplay reveal is set for Gamescom Opening Night Live, an event held on 25 August, 2026.
D&D Beyond Looking For Group feature
Looking for a D&D group? Wizards of the Coast has some good news for you. Players can now use D&D Beyond’s Looking for Group feature in order to do so, thanks to a new SmartPlaying partnership. It'll cost US$0.99 to find and join a game via StartPlaying for a limited time.
To help out new players, the D&D Beyond all is also getting all-new UI for in-person play, launching in 2027.
Dungeons & Dragons full roadmap
Dungeons & Dragons is getting even more partnerships via a new program that focuses on tabletop studios. Ghostfire Gaming is bringing a new Ravenloft release, while Visionary Productions releases Eberron, in 2027 and 2028, respectively. More settings will soon be included in the program.
