Marvel’s Wolverine showed off more gameplay footage today.

Game developer Insomniac Games has shown off an extended new look at gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine, a standalone title focused wholly on the titular claw-slashing mutant himself. What is Marvel’s Wolverine?

Marvel’s Wolverine is a singleplayer game from Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games, following the story of James “Logan” Howlett. During this week's State of Play presentation, the game was shown off in an extended gameplay trailer showcasing a specific in-game mission, wherein Logan fights to free a group of mutants from the clutches of the Reavers.

The Reavers are tasked with delivering these captured mutants to Bolivar Trask, of Trask Industries, but they run into several complications–such as Logan being helped out by the telekinetic mutant Jean Grey, who has also seemingly joined the fray.

The gameplay trailer features a closer look at combat in Marvel’s Wolverine. Logan is able to build up a Logan’s Rage meter by parrying, attacking, and killing, strengthening his attacks and activating his Healing Factor. If Logan’s Rage is pushed too far, he can activate Rage Tier 3, a monochromatic attack mode inspired by Marvel Comics’ Black, White, and Blood series.

Wolverine can also channel his rage into Last Stand to activate his Healing Factor when backed against the wall. The trailer shows off more Mutant character cameos, including Sabretooth, what appeared to be a young Leech, an apparent Deadpool (or lookalike red ninja), and more.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches on 15 September, 2026.
