Nearly 500 Marvel Rivals accounts permanently banned for cheating, NetEase names offending players

Marvel Rivals has purged a recent wave of cheaters from the game.

Nearly 500 accounts have been permanently banned by NetEase following an investigation confirming that they had used or distributed cheats in Marvel Rivals. The accounts were publicly named and shamed–albeit partially censored–with their IDs, usernames, and ranks displayed.

Marvel Rivals bans cheaters and shuts down anti-cheat bypass rumours

In a blog post, NetEase stated that following last weekend’s update, a group of players were detected promoting or deploying unauthorised third-party enhancements, prompting an “immediate and targeted purge”.

“Accounts confirmed to be involved in violations, such as using cheats, illicit assist programmes, or client tampering, have been permanently banned,” NetEase confirmed. The company also stated that the specific cheat, along with related variants, has now been locked into the system, meaning anyone attempting to use it will be immediately flagged and permanently banned from the game.

The developer further outlined its strict measures against cheating. More serious cases–including repeat offenders, penalty evasion, or organised cheat distribution–could face harsher punishments such as device and IP bans.

NetEase also took the opportunity to shut down recent rumours claiming players could bypass the anti-cheat system simply by using launch parameters, calling the claims completely false.

“Our anti-cheat launches concurrently with the game client and cannot be disabled independently. The parameter in question merely hides the pop-up window; it does not deactivate the anti-cheat software in any capacity.”

What accounts were banned from Marvel Rivals?

Perhaps the most entertaining part of the blog post, however, was the extensive list of banned player accounts shown.

While their IDs and usernames were partially censored, the rankings revealed which skill brackets were most heavily using the latest cheat–and ironically, Bronze players dominated the list. That said, numerous accounts across Silver to Grandmaster were also included, alongside three One Above All-ranked players–yikes.

The list also highlighted three accounts that have imposed further penalty for severe violations, with two Celestial-ranked and a single One Above All-ranked players getting a device permaban.
