Is Cyclops going to reload his eyes?
NetEase Games has officially revealed Marvel Rivals’ next two playable characters: Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur. The developer dropped a new trailer today to tease Season 8: Sins of Alchemax, which sees both heroes join the fray in the midst of a war in Nueva York. The new season launches later this week, on 15 May, 2026.
Are Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur joining Marvel Rivals Season 8?
Marvel Rivals Season 7 gave players new playable characters in White Fox and Black Cat. Season 8 is following up those content drops with two more playable characters, who happen to make a rather unexpected duo: Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur. Cyclops is perhaps best known as the leader of the X-Men, while Devil Dinosaur is nearly always paired up with Lunella Lafayette, AKA Moon Girl.
Here’s the upcoming season’s premise, according to the trailer’s YouTube description:
Season 8: Sins of Alchemax is imminent! The Gilded Saint may have purged the Time Plague from Lower Manhattan, but the root of the rot remains. Alchemax Headquarters stands defiant, shielded by a mysterious crimson Chronovium — fueled by a dimension of pure, kinetic force.
The stakes have never been higher. Prepare yourselves - the Alchemax conspiracy goes deeper than we ever feared. Season 8 begins on May 15th UTC! Assemble your team and uncover Alchemax's darkest secret!
Cyclops’ addition to the playable roster has been a long time coming, but Devil Dinosaur’s inclusion in the game was teased as far back as Marvel Rivals Season 6. In the same season that saw Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone’s debuts, the Museum of Contemplation map contained a locked-up Devil Dinosaur–who was freed from his cage to join Deadpool's Monster Kingdom.
It is likely that Devil Dinosaur will be the sole playable character out of the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur duo, though Moon Girl can also be seen in the trailer above, and in Season 8’s cover art, to boot. This suggests that she’ll be present in the game’s story moving forward, while Devil Dinosaur takes the lead in gameplay.
The story of Season 8 picks up after the ending of Season 7, which saw Mayor Fisk’s ambitions of locking up vigilantes amid a war with futuristic Nueva York forces thwarted. Now, a sinister mega-corporation called Alchemax appears to be holding secrets that will be uncovered over the coming season. In the trailer above, we can see what appears to be Alchemax forces taking Moon Girl and Cyclops captive. Surely, Devil Dinosaur is on his way to free them?
