Read on as we break down everything you can get in the Warhammer 40:000: Armageddon launch box set:
What's in the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon launch box set?
The Fourth War for Armageddon is at hand, as a new horde of Orks led by the Speedboss Wazdakka Gutsmek has invaded the war-torn world to make way for another great WAAAGH, called by Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka. Reinforcing the beleaguered defenders of Armageddon is a strike force featuring multiple Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes spearheaded by the Blood Angels. While official point numbers have yet to be revealed by Games Workshop, each side of the box set is expected to feature around 700 to 800 points worth of units.
The miniatures included in the launch box feature a mix of entirely new units and characters as well as new sculpts for existing units, all of which will be push-fit kits for easier assembly. We all know that the new minis are what matter the most, so let's get right into it.
Space Marines
The Space Marine force in the Armageddon launch set includes 23 total miniatures, featuring a good mix of battleline infantry to hold the line alongside a mobile contingent that can swoop in to break the incoming Ork horde.
A 10-man squad of Primaris Intercessors–who notably have helmet options from older armor marks–will form the main battleline, while a three-man squad of Primaris Eradicators equipped with Heavy Bolters provide heavy fire support. Meanwhile, a five-man squad of Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs and a Primaris Land Speeder will be your army's mobile strike force.
Leading the Space Marine strike force will be a Captain equipped with a Power Sword and Relic Shield, plus your choice of three heads–bare, a crested Mark X helmet, and a classic Mark VII helmet adorned with Laurels of Victory. A new sculpt for the Primaris Librarian sees him carry a force staff into battle to support his comrades with his mystical Warp powers. Then there's the new sculpt for the Chaplain with Jump Pack that can join your Vanguard Veterans, as they wade into battle and inspire bravery in your Space Marines. Finally, the Primaris Ancient, with a unique banner sculpt for the Armageddon campaign, will make sure your strike force will hold the line at all costs.
While the launch box art–which notably hearkens back to the second edition of the game–features the Blood Angels up front and center, the Armageddon launch set also includes transfer sheets for other Space Marine Chapters fighting in the conflict. These include the Ultramarines, White Scars, Salamanders, and Crimson Fists. Of course, you're still free to paint your Space Marines as any Chapter you want.
Orks
The Ork horde in the Armageddon launch set includes 38 total miniatures with a whole lot of DAKKA to shoot at the beakies and choppas to smash em wit' too. While there's plenty of new units here to add to the green tide, the new sculpts for existing units also hearken back to classic Ork looks of the past.
Forming the core of your horde will be 20 Ork Boyz, who can now carry both a shoota and a slugga, while Da Boss Nob leading them has a choice of a kombi-rokkit or a kombi-shoota for even more DAKKA. Speaking of more DAKKA, the Mekboyz have also brought along a Wartrakk and a Big Mek Dakkarig because every big battle needs big gunz. And if you need gitz to soak up enemy fire while the brunt of your horde advances, then a 10-man squad of Gretchin can form an adequate screening force.
Commanding the green tide will be a new sculpt for the Da Warboss, equipped with a kustom shoota (for shootin') and a kustom choppa (for choppin’) to inspire the Boyz to fight even harder. Then there's the new Bigboss, who will be your Warboss' second-in-command and is equipped with a two-handed big choppa to lead the Boyz in melee.
And if the Boyz aren't fighting well enough, then the Painboy and his Grot Orderly can “fix” any wounded Orks and get them back into the scrap. But should your shootas and choppas prove inadequate to break the enemy, then the Weirdboy can give them a good krumpin' with his Orky Psyker powers (or have his head explode in the process). Finally, the Bannernob carries your horde's banner aloft into battle, because if the beakies are carrying a banner then the Orks will too.
The Orks in the Armageddon launch set can be painted as any Clan, as any and every Ork with his head on straight will be heading to Armaggedon for the biggest scrap yet. With that said, the set features transfer sheets for prominent Ork clans like the Bad Moonz, Evil Sunz, and Deathskullz.
Everything else in the Armageddon launch box
Aside from a ton of new miniatures, the Armageddon launch set also includes the Core Rules book for the 11th edition of Warhammer 40,000 and the Armageddon: Operation Imperator lore book, with the latter detailing the opening conflict in the Fourth War for Armageddon. Meanwhile, the Chapter Approved 2026-2027 Mission Deck and the Dominus Narrative Campaign Deck will feature the cards you need for gameplay, with datasheet cards for the minatures included in the set providing easy reference for unit stats and effects. And, of course, an instruction booklet to help you with assembly.
