Discord Nitro users could soon get access to a new Xbox Game Pass tier at no additional cost.
Microsoft may be introducing a new Xbox Game Pass tier as part of the Discord Nitro subscription, allowing users on the platform to access a range of Xbox games, including major titles such as Stardew Valley and Fallout 4.
According to leaks by Discord Previews, the $9.99 monthly Discord Nitro subscription may include a new Xbox Game Pass tier called the “Starter Edition” at no additional cost.
This would reportedly grant subscribers access to over 50 games from the Game Pass library, up to 10 hours of cloud game streaming per month, and additional Xbox rewards. The Starter Edition library is expected to feature popular titles such as Stardew Valley, Fallout 4, and Grounded.
Upon launch, users will reportedly need to activate Xbox Game Pass via the Nitro Home section before accessing its range of game content and perks.
Although there has been no official announcement from either Microsoft or Discord, Xbox’s newly-appointed CEO, Asha Sharma, stated two days ago that the company is working with Discord to make Game Pass “more flexible for our players”, which appears to align with the recent leaks.
What further initiatives has Xbox rolled out?
Microsoft’s Xbox division has recently rolled out several major initiatives to strengthen its brand, including significant price reductions for Game Pass subscriptions, a widespread rebrand from Microsoft Gaming to just Xbox, and ongoing development of a next-generation console codenamed Project Helix.
Adding to these developments, fans are sure to welcome the potential Game Pass integration with Discord Nitro, as it would serve as a bonus perk for existing subscribers, while also attracting new users to the platform.
What does Discord Nitro offer?
The social platform Discord offers a premium subscription called “Discord Nitro”, which provides access to features such as 500MB file uploads, 4K/60fps streaming, extensive profile customisation, server boosts, custom emojis and stickers, and more.
There are two Nitro tiers at different price points: a basic plan at US$2.99 per month and the full premium experience at US$9.99 per month. However, pricing may vary per account as Discord can tweak prices according to factors like your location, currency exchange rates, and more.
