Capcom reveals first look at new character Ingrid’s gameplay in Street Fighter 6, launching 28 May

Ingrid will be a distinct addition to Street Fighter 6’s character roster.

Capcom has revealed the release date for its next Street Fighter 6 character, Ingrid, with the final Year 3 Character Pass DLC set to arrive on 28 May. The Japanese publisher has also released a gameplay trailer showcasing her whimsical moves, which have quickly captivated fans.

Despite being a new addition to Street Fighter’s growing roster, Ingrid has existed within Capcom’s wider fighting game universe for far longer than many of her peers. She was originally planned for Capcom Fighting All-Stars in 2003 before the project was ultimately cancelled.

However, Capcom evidently retained interest in the character’s concept, and she was later reused in other titles, most notably Capcom Fighting Evolution. Back in June 2025, Ingrid was announced to join the Street Fighter 6 roster, and she is now set for a May release in the popular fighting game franchise.

One of Ingrid’s most distinctive traits is that she is not entirely human. Instead, she has a cosmic origin, allowing her to wield supernatural abilities such as teleportation via portals. Her fighting style is described as unorthodox, which “infuses ballet-like attacks with energy manipulation including telekinesis and power blasts," the SF Fandom wiki noted.

Street Fighter 6's Ingrid trailer fan reaction

With her flashy moves clearly showcased in the gameplay trailer, many fans have speculated that she could be an overpowered addition to the roster. The community responded with a mix of excitement and humour.

“This is in fact the opponent Akuma has been searching for,” user WrathMilten commented on the official Ingrid gameplay showcase. Another user, sir_will_iam, added similar sarcasm: “She fights like she’s deciding who gets to be in the next game.”

On Reddit, one user expressed enthusiasm about her reveal, saying: “Actually so intriguing as to get me into the game again. Capcom ain’t doing bad lately.”

Overall, reception to Ingrid’s inclusion in Street Fighter has been positive. However, her flashy, almost supernatural abilities have raised questions, given the series’ traditionally martial arts-focused roster. It remains to be seen how she will play when she releases this May.

The final Year 3 DLC fighter for Street Fighter will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam).
