Resident Evil Requiem shows the franchise’s staying power.
Capcom confirmed this week that Resident Evil Requiem has sold six million copies since its launch on 27 February, 2026. That officially makes Requiem the Resident Evil franchise’s fastest-selling game to date, according to a press release penned by Capcom’s COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto.
Resident Evil Requiem sells six million copies
Capcom has officially sold six million copies of Resident Evil Requiem in less than a month since launch, according to a recent press release from the company. The release, penned by Capcom’s COO and president Haruhiro Tsujimoto, noted that this news cemented Requiem as the franchise’s fastest-selling game ever to reach this milestone.
The game’s predecessor, Resident Evil Village, shipped over three million units in its first four days of release, tying the game with Resident Evil 2 (2019) as the third-fastest-selling game in the franchise. Resident Evil 2 also shipped three million units in its first week of release, and four million in its first month.
Resident Evil 4 (2023) sold over three million copies in its first two days, but only broke five million sales three months after launch, by July 2023. Requiem had sold more copies than all three of these games did in their first week of release in a mere five days, with five million units sold in its first week.
Tsujimoto added that Capcom plans to support the game with more additional game content “so players can continue to enjoy the title longer” in the future, having revealed an upcoming expansion for the game last week.
The Resident Evil franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary on 22 March, 2026, which makes the fact that its latest installment sold so well quite an achievement. The series seems to be on a continuing uptick in popularity among fans old and new, and more games are likely to come in due time.
