Zayne's Japanese VA is leaving Love and Deepspace, Infold Games confirms

Love and Deepspace’s Japanese dub enjoyers got some bad news this week.

Game developer Infold Games has officially announced a massive change coming to its highly-beloved otome gacha game Love and Deepspace: Zayne (also known as Rei)’s voice actor is changing. In a short and somewhat vague social media announcement, the developer announced that actor Takuya Sato will be leaving the role this coming June.

Here’s the announcement:

Japanese voice actor for Zayne leaves Love and Deepspace

This week, game developer Infold Games confirmed a major cast change for Love and Deepspace’s Japanese dub. Takuya Sato, who voices one of the game’s love interests Zayne, is officially leaving the role on 7 June, 2026. The shocking news was attributed to the actor’s contract expiring, though Infold’s official announcement didn’t go into further detail.

There are still a few unknowns surrounding the game’s future, even with Infold’s released statement taken into account. For example, players don’t have a timeline for when Zayne’s next voice actor might join the game, or whether all of the character’s voice lines might be re-recorded immediately following Sato's departure. Infold didn’t announce an official replacement for the role, though it’s likely that a new voice actor will take Sato’s place eventually.

While this announcement has devastated fans of the game’s Japanese dub, as the love interests’ voices are considered integral to their charm and likeability, it should be noted that Zayne’s voice actor will remain the same in all other dubs. Further cast changes were not announced for the Japanese dub, which suggests that this issue of expiring contracts will not affect other members of the cast.

Infold Games also recently announced that its prior-released otome game, Mr Love: Queen’s Choice, will end service on 27 March, 2026, marking the end of an era for otome fans.
