Love and Deepspace players are thirsting over its swimsuit-wearing boys in “You and Midsummer” event

Love and Deepspace's new event is bulging with exciting rewards.

Love and Deepspace’s new summer event banner has been unveiled, featuring its characters–Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel, Sylus, and Caleb–showing off a whole lot more skin than usual. The game’s romanceable cast is donning swimwear for a new limited 5-Star Memory Wish Pool, as the whole crew hits the beach.

The event has not made its debut without controversy, however, as players briefly believed that a scene from its trailer had been censored.

Love and Deepspace “You and Midsummer” event details

Love and Deepspace’s new You and Midsummer event gives players access to a new gacha banner. Three out of five event-specific 5-Star Memories can be pulled in this event:

  • Xavier: Coolsplash Soak
  • Zayne: Runaway Waves
  • Rafayel: Heatwave Torrent
  • Sylus: Lovespeed Ride
  • Caleb: Clearwind Glide

The three selected Memories will have a significantly increased drop rate, but the player’s selection can be changed at any time. Selected Memories have a 75% drop rate when a 5-Star Memory is obtained. All unselected 5-Star Memories, including those specific to this event, will have a 25% drop rate.

The new beach-themed Memories will only be obtainable via this event, so act quickly if you’d like to get them. You’ll also be able to gain certain items depending on the number of Wishes you make. For example, the 200th Wish will grant players one of the five event-specific Memories. The 25th Wish, by comparison, will grant players Universal Hat [Summer Glow].

New summer event is already a hit with Love and Deepspace fans (mostly)

This is the first time that Love and Deepspace’s main cast has donned swimsuits for a banner, and suffice it to say that players are pleased to see it finally happen. Players online have celebrated the update with no small amount of thirst, praising the game’s shirtless protagonists, new social events, and summer-themed shenanigans.

On Reddit, user angel-of-britannia commented “SHIRTLESS ZAYNE YEEEEEEEAAAAAHH [...] The piggyback ride and the angle on his kiss... my god I'm gonna be thinking about that for days.” Likewise, user aerithstrifee gushed over Rafayel, saying “RAFS GIGGLES!!!! I love this silly man so so much, his card is gonna be so freaking cute and fun!!”

Some have singled out the male cast’s swimwear as their main subject of praise–specifically, their bulges. On Twitter/X, user éowyn simply cropped out Sylus’ lower body in his low-cut swimming trunks, and said “I need dat.” Fanart of Sylus in swimwear has already circulated online, with some of them being a little more risqué than others.

Was the new Love and Deepspace trailer censored in China?

The You and Midsummer event has not kicked off without controversy. A scene featuring Rafayel, one of the game’s romanceable characters, falling into the player character’s hands and being carried like a princess, has gone viral online. Rumours spread that the scene had been cut from both the full game and trailers on Chinese social media accounts, due to negative reactions from players in China.

Fans rallied against Infold Games online for seemingly removing the scene with Rafayel, though this controversy ended up being overblown. Although a portion of players were vocal in their dislike for the scene, the game’s trailer remained intact on its official Bilibili account, despite claims that it had been taken down. Claims that the game had been censored were also proven untrue, as the trailer has also been unedited.

Eventually, word circulated online that the game’s promotional material had not, in fact, been edited to cater towards the Chinese playerbase, and this controversy died down. Infold Games has not made any statement on the matter, however.

Love and Deepspace’s You and Midsummer event runs from 12 August to 31 August, 2025.
