Square Enix is bringing Life is Strange back.
Square Enix is officially bringing Life is Strange back later this year, according to an official announcement on the franchise’s social channels. The post states that an “exclusive reveal” of the next instalment of the franchise is scheduled for 20 January, 2025.
This lines with an earlier leak from video game ratings agency PEGI, which revealed a direct sequel to the first game entitled Life is Strange Reunion. Here’s the reveal teaser:
New Life is Strange game sets reveal date, Max and Chloe might return
Square Enix has officially confirmed the existence of a brand-new Life is Strange video game, confirming that a reveal is set to “separate the real from the rumour” next week. Rumours regarding the upcoming Life is Strange sequel have circulated online ever since a leak surfaced from video game ratings agency PEGI.
The PEGI listing, which has now been taken down, detailed information for an unreleased game called Life is Strange: Reunion, a sequel that stars original series protagonists Max and Chloe. Here’s the synopsis of the game, according to PEGI:
"Chloe Price was Max Caulfield’s partner in time… Losing her is Max’s greatest regret. Now Chloe has come to Caledon University. Haunted by nightmares and impossible memories, Chloe needs Max’s help. But Max is already in crisis: in three days, a deadly inferno will destroy the campus."
Square Enix has not confirmed the title of the upcoming Life is Strange sequel, but its acknowledgement of the ongoing rumours suggest that PEGI’s recent leak holds a grain of truth at least. The teaser also features an unknown figure with green hair, a full-sleeve tattoo cover-up, and a jacket emblazoned with an image of a raven.
All of these design elements can be tied back to Chloe Price, one of the original main characters of the original game. Life is Strange: Double Exposure and original game voice actor Hannah Telle, who played Max Caulfield in both games, also reposted the trailer on social media–suggesting that Max will also return.
The upcoming Life is Strange video game is set to be revealed on 20 January, 2025. Amazon Prime Video is also developing a TV series adaptation of the first game, which reportedly might have just found its Max Caulfield.
