Amazon Prime's Life is Strange TV series has reportedly cast its Max Caulfield

Maisy Stella may be set to assume the role of protagonist Max Caulfield in the upcoming Life Is Strange TV series.

Amazon Prime’s adaptation of the episodic adventure video game Life Is Strange has released little to no updates regarding its development since its announcement. However, recent reports suggest that an actress has likely been chosen to play the show’s lead character, Max Caulfield.

Maisy Stella likely to play Max Caulfield in Life Is Strange TV series

According to The InSneider, Canadian actress and singer Maisy Stella is set to lead the live-action adaptation of Life Is Strange. The report is locked behind a paywall, but multiple outlets, including social media account DiscussingFilm, have quoted the reputable insider.

The rumour does not explicitly name Stella as Max Caulfield. However, given that Max is the central protagonist of the first Life Is Strange instalment, it is reasonable to assume she would portray the character.

Maisy Stella is best known for her role as Daphne in the ABC television series Nashville, and for starring in the film My Old Ass, for which she received several awards including the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Actor/Actress.

There is scarce information regarding the adaptation otherwise, unfortunately. It has been confirmed previously that the series will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Charlie Covell, the creator and writer of Netflix’s Kaos.

Life Is Strange is a multi-instalment video game franchise that began in 2015 and was followed by several prequels, sequels, and DLC expansions. The game features a story-rich gameplay experience centered on Max Caulfield, who has the ability to rewind time, allowing players to revisit and alter key decisions.

Widely praised for its interactive storytelling, the franchise has also spawned spin-offs in the form of comics and novels. The television adaptation, which was first conceptualized in 2016 and changed hands multiple times before landing at Amazon in September 2025, is expected to see further developments in the near future.

Square Enix is also said to be in the midst of developing a brand-new Life is Strange game reuniting Max Caulfield and Chloe Price, aptly named Life is Strange: Reunion.
