Marvel Rivals Season 6 reveals first triple-role hero Deadpool, new map, and hero proficiency rework

Marvel Rivals Season 6 is adding the game’s first 3-in-1 hero.

Marvel Rivals has officially unveiled Season 6, entitled “Night at the Museum.” This season is headlined by none other than the iconic merc with a mouth, Deadpool, who enters the game's playable roster as a Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist–all three at once! Deadpool will soon be the game’s first triple-role hero, with the ability to change roles mid-match to gain different abilities based on each role.

Deadpool is certainly one of the game’s most exciting hero additions by far, but that’s not all. Season 6 is also adding a new Convoy map, new balance changes, a big update to the hero proficiency system, and much more.

Deadpool, the three-in-one Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist hero

Deadpool is launching as one of Marvel Rivals’ most unusual heroes yet. Before this week’s reveal, the hero was spotted bouncing around Marvel Rivals’ character roster, going from the Vanguard role to the Strategist role seemingly at random. This week, Deadpool himself cleared the air in a Dev Vision video: he’s going to be a Duelist, Vanguard, and Vanguard–all at once.

Deadpool players will be able to swap between all three in-game roles at the spawn point, with each role granting the hero a different kit. As a Duelist, Deadpool will be able to dish out lots of damage using his dual pistols and katanas. As a Vanguard, Deadpool will be able to stay on the team’s front lines with the help of a unicorn plushie that grants shields. As a Strategist, his pistols and swords both damage enemies and heal teammates.

That’s not all, however. Deadpool also comes with RPG-like mechanics, which allow him to level up specific abilities over the course of the match simply by consulting a book during battle. His Ultimate ability also charges up faster if players play as stylishly as possible, in a Devil May Cry-like twist. He can also taunt downed enemies for a short window of invulnerability.

Despite being in all three roles, players can only have one Deadpool per team in Quick Match and Competitive mode–just like every other hero.

Buffs and Nerfs coming in Marvel Rivals Season 6

As always, a few characters are getting buffed and nerfed in Marvel Rivals Season 6. Hulk, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Blade, and Cloak & Dagger are all getting touched up with a few buffs. Meanwhile, Angela, Daredevil, Gambit, Invisible Woman are getting hit with nerfs.

In Marvel Rivals’ recent Dev Vision video, NetEase pointed out that Strategists have been rather powerful in the current meta. Hence, a few of the role’s most popular heroes are likely getting their kits tuned to keep the meta healthy. That being said, none of these nerfs are too extreme–Invisible Woman is simply getting her survivability tuned down with changes to her Guardian Shield, for example.

Marvel Rivals Season 6 Team-Up changes

Marvel Rivals Season 6 is getting a few new Team-Ups. First up is Parker Power-Up (Peni Parker–Spider-Man), which allows Spider-Man to throw a Web-Bomb from Peni. Mr. Pool's Interdimensional Toy Box (Deadpool–Jeff the Land Shark) allows Jeff to spit out one of Deadpool’s toys, creating an AoE sprinkler that heals allies and causes visual clutter for enemies.

Meanwhile, Ever-Burning Bond (Human Torch–Spider-Man) and Rocket Network (Rocket Raccoon–Peni Parker/Star-Lord) have been retired. An old Doctor Strange Team-Up is also returning in Season 6.5, although NetEase only plans to reveal more information on that later.

More Season 6 content updates and changes

Marvel Rivals Season 6 is getting a new Convoy map called Museum of Contemplation on 29 January, two weeks after the season launches. The Times Square map is also getting a few updates, with a new Photo Mode and a Clobberin’ Club featuring 1v1 duels.

The Hero Proficiency system is also getting an overhaul, with increased caps for each hero and brand-new rewards to grind out. These rewards include Units, Dynamic Avatars, and more cosmetics. Finally, the Resource Rumble mode and map will be removed from Quick Match on 16 January, set to return as an 18v18 mode sometime later.

Finally, Marvel Zombies is leaving the game for good. However, NetEase has promised a new PvE mode is coming in the first half of 2026.
