Meet your new Generation 10 starters: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua.
The Pokémon Company ended this week’s Pokémon Presents livestream with a bang, announcing the upcoming mainline games to herald the arrival of Generation 10: Pokémon Winds & Waves. The upcoming games will feature a tropical setting with wide oceans and shimmering waters, breaking away from Scarlet & Violet’s vast land masses and diverse biomes.
Here’s the reveal trailer:
Pokémon Winds & Waves to usher in Gen 10 in 2027

The next mainline Pokémon games to follow up on Generation Nine’s debut titles Pokémon Scarlet & Violet were officially revealed this week, though they are quite a ways off from an actual release. Entitled Pokémon Winds & Waves, the two games are set to launch simultaneously in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
This means that the Pokémon franchise is officially making the leap to Nintendo’s next generation of hardware, after its most recent installment, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, was released on the Nintendo Switch. An optional game upgrade was also available to purchase for Nintendo Switch 2 users.
Pokémon Winds & Waves were revealed via a three-minute long trailer showing off gameplay for the new titles, starting with a nostalgic look at past Pokémon regions and two Pikachus looking ready to take a holiday. These Pikachus will apparently play an important role in the player’s adventures.
The new games take place in an unknown tropical region, encompassing forests, islands, and vast oceans. Via a press release, Game Freak is confirmed to be returning for these new titles, which will also feature a vast open world much like Scarlet and Violet. Players will wear different outfits depending on the game version (Winds or Waves).
