ConcernedApe reveals that players can marry Clint and Sandy in Stardew Valley's 1.7 update

You can marry Clint soon, yay!

Game developer ConcernedApe has officially unveiled some long-awaited news: Stardew Valley is getting two new marriage candidates in its upcoming 1.7 update, and they’re none other than Clint and Sandy. Both characters have always been present in the game, but never received romance-related questlines until now.

The announcement was made at the end of a 22-minute livestream going over Stardew Valley’s development history, hosted by ConcernedApe himself to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary:

Stardew Valley 1.7’s new marriage candidates have been confirmed: Clint and Sandy

We now have more information on Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.7 update. ConcernedApe had previously revealed that the game would feature two new marriage candidates, but today the developer officially unveiled their identities: Clint and Sandy. The release date of the upcoming update is currently unknown, however.

Players will be intimately familiar with both of these new marriage candidates, as they have been present in the game since its original 1.0 release. Clint serves as Pelican Town’s blacksmith, and helps the player upgrade their tools, process geodes, and so on in exchange for gold.

On the other hand, players will likely meet Sandy a little later in the game, after unlocking access to Calico Desert. Sandy serves as shopkeeper for a store called the Oasis in the Desert, which also houses a casino run by Mr. Qi. Sandy sells a rather valuable resource: Starfruit Seeds, which can help players make tons of money if they get into the business of making Starfruit Wine.

Of the two new marriage candidates, players online seem pretty positive on Sandy’s inclusion… and unsurprisingly, rather negative on Clint’s inclusion. Clint has developed a poor reputation among players due to his sad sap personality, and constant pining over another one of the game’s marriage candidates: Emily.

Hopefully, Clint’s new Heart Events will endear him to the community with time.
