Our 10 most anticipated new games of 2026: GTA VI, Resident Evil Requiem, and more

Here are the games we’re most excited to get our hands on this year.

2026 is around the corner, and you know what that means: a whole new year of all-new games. There is a wide variety of games for everyone to get into this year, ranging from highly-anticipated blockbusters like Grand Theft Auto VI to nostalgic retro-looking co-op games like Orbitals.

Narrowing down the many games we’re excited to play in 2026 to just 10 titles was hard, but we’ve done it! Here are our 10 most-anticipated new game releases of 2026:

GTA VI (19 November, 2026).

Let’s get this one out of the way first. Arguably the most-anticipated video game on this entire list is Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games’ long-awaited successor to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V. The open-world crime-action franchise has captured the hearts of many over the years, thanks to its compelling storylines, memorable characters, and chaotic sandbox-oriented gameplay.

GTA VI looks to reprise this beloved formula with higher visual fidelity, taking players back to Vice City and its surrounding environs. Here, players will step into the shoes of criminal duo Jason and Lucia, a budding couple looking to better their lives in the big city.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls (2026)

Fighting game developer Arc System Works (Guilty Gear Strive, Dragon Ball FighterZ) is working on a tag-team fighting game featuring characters from Marvel Comics. Captain America, Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Storm have been confirmed to be part of the fighting roster, though more characters can safely be expected down the line.

We had a chance to play Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls in a closed beta held late this year (December 2025), and found its combat fun and flashy, but rewarding to master. Between Marvel Rivals, Marvel Cosmic Mayhem, and another game on this list–Marvel fans are eating well.

Resident Evil Requiem (27 February, 2026)

Capcom’s upcoming sequel to Resident Evil Village is a series reboot of sorts, ending the Ethan Winters saga and introducing a new protagonist named Grace Ashcroft. A total reboot this is not, however; the game also features Leon S. Kennedy as its co-protagonist, bringing the former rookie cop all the way back to Raccoon City to fight a new rising threat.

We played a demo of Resident Evil Requiem at Tokyo Game Show 2025; you can read our thoughts on the demo here.

007 First Light (28 May, 2026)

007 First Light sees IO Interactive put their own spin on the James Bond franchise, right after revitalising the Hitman franchise with a trilogy of new games. In 007 First Light, we’ll meet an all-new James Bond at a mere 26 years of age. Bond embarks on a critical mission that, if completed successfully, will earn him 00 status. Gee, I wonder which 00 title he’ll receive?

Orbitals (2026)

This unique two-player co-op video game was unveiled at The Game Awards 2025, wowing us with its classic-looking retro anime aesthetics. The game follows explorers Maki and Omura, who brave the perils of space together in order to help their crumbling station home.

Control Resonant (2026)

Control Resonant is Remedy Games’ official sequel to its 2019 hit Control, putting players in the shoes of Jesse Faden’s superpowered brother Dylan Faden. Breaking away from its predecessor’s third-person-shooter gameplay, this is a hack-and-slash adventure set in the big city, where Dylan is sent to stop a reality-bending threat.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (Q2 2026)

Tomodachi Life has always been one of Nintendo’s more eccentric game franchises, and it’s an absolute joy to see it return in 2026 at long last! In this sequel, players will oversee several Miis on a tropical island. They’ll be able to interact with the characters, eavesdrop on their dreams, or watch the characters develop relationships on their own. Think of it as a more unhinged version of the Sims.

Forza Horizon 6 (2026)

The Horizon Festival is making its way to Japan at long last, a highly-requested pit stop in this racing franchise’s ongoing journey. Forza Horizon 6 will take place in a currently-unknown stretch of Japan, following up on the Mexico-set Forza Horizon 5, with Playground Games behind the wheel once again. Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10 Studios is also on board to help with development on this title.

The game will also arrive on PlayStation 5 post-launch.

Marvel’s Wolverine (Q3/Q4 2026)

After working its magic with the Spider-Man arm of characters in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, game developer Insomniac Games is trying its hand at another fan-favourite Marvel hero: Wolverine. The game features an ensemble cast of mutants from Marvel Comics, including Mystique and Omega Red.

The star of the show, however, will be James “Logan” Howlett, AKA Wolverine (Liam McIntyre), who comes into this story already centuries-old.

Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors (2026)

If you loved Vampire Survivors, you should know that your next obsession is already right around the corner. Vampire Crawlers is a fast-pased turn-based card-driven game with rogue-lite elements, tasking people with both exploring dungeons and building busted decks at the same time.
