Cool, but what about Haunted Chocolatier?
Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe AKA Eric Barone is once again teasing the game’s next big update, which sounds a whole lot bigger than the minor patch players might have been expecting. Stardew Valley is pretty feature-rich for a game that’s been continuously updated since 2016, but it’s about to get more content anyway.
Stardew Valley developer confirms more content coming in 1.7 update
Game developer ConcernedApe is hard at work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, but that isn’t keeping him from making more updates for Stardew Valley in the meantime. The farming sim is almost 10 years old now, but is already set to receive another hefty content add-on with the upcoming 1.7 update.
On Twitter/X, ConcernedApe noted that the upcoming update will include “some more character/social stuff” while also noting that it’s “traditional to add a new farm type.” He didn’t elaborate further, however, saying that there’s “lots more but I don't want to reveal much yet.”
That suggests the update is still far off from an actual release, given that ConcernedApe appears hesitant to share more information on its contents. While winding up to the game’s previous 1.6 update, the developer teased its new content by sharing a patch note each day. It's likely that the developer will similarly share more details on 1.7 closer to its release.
For now, we at least know that players are getting an all-new farm type to tinker with, on top of new ways to socialise with their beloved villagers. ConcernedApe also apologised for the long wait on news of Stardew Valley's impending Nintendo Switch 2 Edition release, confirming that he would “announce something very soon” to that end.
ConcernedApe is still developing Haunted Chocolatier, an upcoming cosy sim game that currently has no release date.
