The countdown to Bond’s new beginning is on, and actress Gemma Chan is joining the cast.
IO Interactive has just revealed that Gemma Chan will join the cast of 007 First Light, the highly-anticipated action-adventure game arriving on 27 March 2026. The announcement was made during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast this week.
The acclaimed British actress, known for Marvel’s Eternals and Crazy Rich Asians, steps into the role of Selina Tan, MI6’s Head of Tactical Simulation, and is a brand-new character created exclusively for the game.

007 First Light is a bold reimagining of James Bond’s origin, introducing players to a younger Bond in his first steps into espionage. The game blends IO Interactive’s trademark stealth-action design with cinematic storytelling, promising a fresh take on the iconic spy.
The ensemble cast already features Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin, The OA) as James Bond, with Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, and Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny. Lennie James plays mentor John Greenway, while Noémie Nakai appears as Miss Roth. Chan’s arrival strengthens an already impressive line-up.
Her character Selina Tan leads MI6’s advanced Tactical Simulation programme, designed to train and test recruits under high-pressure scenarios. With expertise in psychology, strategy, and immersive technology, Selina embodies both authority and innovation, making her an intriguing new figure in Bond’s world.
Chan’s casting was announced during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast, and it marks her first role in a video game, bringing both her voice and likeness to the character. IO Interactive are pushing for performances that deliver emotional nuance alongside action, aiming to make every character feel as vivid as the world they inhabit.
With its mix of high-stakes stealth gameplay, cinematic presentation, and a fully reimagined Bond story, 007 First Light is shaping up to be one of 2026’s headline releases.
