The End Times are getting considerably messier, with a huge DLC and one particularly ambitious Skaven plan on the way.
Thanquol has finally masterminded a plan worthy of the End Times, and apparently it involves blowing up the moon. The scheming Grey Seer takes centre stage in the reveal trailer for Total War: Warhammer III's Lords of the End Times, where an increasingly elaborate Skaven plot culminates in a rather ambitious attempt to blast the moon apart.
Behind all that Skaven scheming is a hefty expansion for Immortal Empires. Creative Assembly announced on 13 August that Lords of the End Times will launch on 24 September, bringing Nagash, Thanquol, Boris Todbringer and the Glottkin to the game as four new Legendary Lords. It's also the biggest DLC Creative Assembly has released across Total War: Warhammer's 10-year history.
"A collection of cataclysmic curiosities, this pack represents the biggest DLC that we've ever released in the series 10-year history," Creative Assembly said, with new units and lore-inspired features arriving alongside a sizeable free update.
Total War: Warhammer III Lords of the End Times adds four Legendary Lords
Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead, leads the four new Legendary Lords, with his sights set on turning the world into a Land of the Dead and ascending to godhood. His campaign involves gathering the nine Mortarchs and recovering the lost Books of Nagash, while his armies can draw from the Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts, and Vampire Coast rosters. His new units include the Khemric Titan, a colossal magically animated scarab-like construct.
Thanquol brings his Masterplans to the Skaven, ranging from raising secret armies and conducting dark rituals to plotting heists. Creative Assembly warns that "unforeseen complications may arise" along the way, while the Grey Seer can eventually ride his Rat-Ogre bodyguard Boneripper into battle. Stormfiends and several types of Verminlord are also joining the Skaven roster.
Boris Todbringer, Elector Count of Middenland, is out to defend the Empire and take down his nemesis, Khazrak One-Eye. Defeating enemies raises Fervour that can be used to develop the Great Temple of Ulric and its Sanctuaries, with new Middenland and Empire-themed units, including Teutogen Guard and Knights of the White Wolf joining his forces.
Rounding out the four are the Glottkin, the Nurgle-marked brothers Otto, Ethrac and Ghurk, who fight together as a single Legendary Lord. They can spread Nurgle Corruption and turn conquered settlements into Gardens of Corruption, which generate Plagues and provide greater access to Daemonic Nurgle units. Their new forces include Putrid Blightkings, available with axe and shield, great weapons or dual axes.

There is plenty more new content packed into those four campaigns, with Lords of the End Times adding:
- Four Legendary Lords
- Eight Legendary Heroes
- Five Lords and Heroes
- 23 battle units
- 12 Regiments of Renown
- New gameplay mechanics, features, and objectives
Among the new units are the Khemric Titan for Nagash, Stormfiends for Thanquol, Teutogen Guard and Knights of the White Wolf for Boris, and Putrid Blightkings for the Glottkin.
When does Total War: Warhammer III Lords of the End Times release?
Total War: Warhammer III Lords of the End Times launches on 24 September, 2026, with pre-orders now open for Windows and Mac via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. Players can purchase each of the four Legendary Lords and their associated content individually, or pick up all four together as a bundle with a 15% discount.
Can you play Immortal Empires without owning Total War: Warhammer III?
Lords of the End Times is also changing how newcomers can jump into Immortal Empires. Creative Assembly says that, in a first for the series, purchasing any of the new content will grant access to the Immortal Empires campaign without requiring ownership of any Total War: Warhammer game. The developer describes the change as "a great entry point for new players", giving newcomers another route into the massive campaign through any of the four new Lords.
Total War: Warhammer III Lords of the End Times free update
The paid DLC will arrive alongside what Creative Assembly describes as "one of the biggest ever free game updates for the series to date", with Neferata headlining the free additions as a new Legendary Lord.
The free update includes:

- Archaon the Everchosen rework
- Chaos Invasion, Vermintide, and Nagash Rises End Game Scenarios
- Updated Victory Conditions for all Legendary Lords and more
There is still plenty being kept under wraps, with Creative Assembly promising "loads more detail" on Lords of the End Times as its 24 September release approaches.
