Time to play catch-up with these holiday game events.
Christmas is almost here, which means that a bunch of your favourite live-service video games are now kicking off limited-time in-game events to celebrate the season. From winter-themed events covering the map with snow, to Christmas-themed events giving away free gifts for the holidays, there are lots of games to help you soak in the Christmas vibes this year.
Here are all the best Christmas game events running in 2025:
Overwatch 2: Winter Wonderland
Overwatch 2’s Winter Wonderland event is back, running from 9 December to 7 January, 2026. The event will feature a winter-themed map, along with the prop hunt game mode Mischief & Magic Wonderland. Wonderland is a festive twist on the returning event allows props to fight back, while players earn cosmetics like Frozen Demon Junkrat and Frozen Mountaineer Cassidy.
Phasmophobia: Winter’s Jest
Looking to celebrate the holidays in a more spooky manner? Phasmophobia is running a Winter’s Jest event, allowing players to battle Krampus and complete contracts for rewards.
Final Fantasy XIV Starlight Celebration

Even Final Fantasy XIV is celebrating the holidays, with its returning Starlight Celebration event. The event brings new cosmetics on top of old ones, allowing players to snag returning items they might have missed out on. This year, the focus is on cosy little cup items, and emotes to let players sip from said cups. Hot chocolate, anyone?
This event runs from 17 December to 31 December, 2025.
Marvel Rivals Season 5: Winter Celebration
Marvel Rivals’ Winter Celebration event returns from 2024, with all-new events and cosmetics, on top of the old ones too. Returning winter cosmetics are now available in the shop for all to peruse, and a new Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival allows players to try different Jeff the Land Shark builds in a Splatoon-like game mode. There are a bunch of new winter cosmetics for players to check out as well, so don’t miss out.
Pokémon Go Winter Holiday
Pokémon Go’s festive Winter Holiday event returns once again in two phases, with each phase featuring different rewards to look out for. Look out for Christmas tree-themed Sudowoodos in part one, and Christmas hat-wearing Eevees in part two!
Fortnite: Winterfest 2025
Winterfest is back in Fortnite this year, giving players lots of winter-themed cosmetics to dig into for the season. In the Item Shop, they can check out Sabrina Carpenter’s Santa ‘Brina and Hatsune Miku’s Snow Miku skins. In the Winterfest cabin, they can also open up 14 whole free presents this year, with one present available to open per day. However, presents can’t be stacked, so you’ll have to log in every day for the freebies.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Toy Day
Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Toy Day event is back, bringing all sorts of Christmas-themed items and projects back to the island, as is the annual tradition. This Toy Day (24 December), don’t forget to stock up with gifts for your villagers!
Apex Legends: Merry Mayhem
Apex Legends’ latest event Merry Mayhem runs from 16 December to 6 January, 2026, adding new wild cards and special themed cosmetics for players to collect.
Peak: Winter Patch
Peak’s all-new Winter Patch has dropped, adding a bit of festive flavour to the airport lobby. Now, players can chuck snowballs at each other before descending into the wilderness together.
Battlefield 6 Season 1: Winter Offensive

Battlefield 6’s final Season 1 update added an icy makeover for the Empire State map, giving players a look at war-torn New York City in the winter. The Winter Offensive update also adds themed modes that have players freeze in the cold, a new Ice Climbing Axe melee weapon, and a mini battle pass.
