Mega Man: Double Override officially announced for 2027 launch
Capcom is officially bringing Mega Man back, following the Blue Bomber’s lengthy gap in recent mainline appearances. Mega Man will once again star in an all-new platforming game called Mega Man: Double Override, which is an ostensible sequel to Megaman 11. The game is touted as a “brand-new 12th entry in the Mega Man series.”
Capcom’s official description for the game is short and sweet:
"Mega Man returns in 2027 with a brand-new entry in the classic action platforming series! Override challenges and blast down legions of robots while springboarding across a new array of futuristic frontiers!"
Capcom hasn’t forgotten about one of its most iconic franchise mascots, and it came to The Game Awards 2025 ready to prove it. Although fans only got a brief snippet of gameplay to chew on, the Mega Man franchise finally showed signs of life with this sequel announcement; 3D models, sci-fi environments, and a classic Blue Bomber design were all featured in the 12th Mega Man game reveal.
Mega Man: Double Override launches in 2027.
