Rogue joins Marvel Rivals’ playable roster in Season 5.5.
NetEase Games has officially revealed Rogue’s role and abilities in Marvel Rivals’ playable roster. The hero will join Marvel Rivals in Season 5.5, with a powerful ability kit that revolves around power absorption and draining enemy Ultimates. Rogue will be a Vanguard hero, as opposed to the Duelist role many expected her to fit into in-game.
The developer announced Rogue’s kit and upcoming Season 5.5 changes in a new Dev Vision video:
Rogue is a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals Season 5.5
Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 is kicking off this Friday (12 December), with an all-new playable hero: Rogue. Picking up from the events of Season 5’s first half, Gambit has pulled off a daring heist to steal a contract from the Grandmaster–only to find that the contract has been hidden elsewhere. His fiancée Rogue wakes up to find him missing, and ready to raise all hell in hurt and disappointment.
Rogue enters Marvel Rivals’ roster with a slightly altered ability kit compared to her comicbook counterpart, having absorbed Chronovium energy from a Chronovium Die. Her powerful melee abilities allow her to charge into the battlefield and disrupt enemy lines, creating opportunities for her team in doing so.
Rogue carries her signature ability in tow: power absorption. In battle, she can take down enemies and absorb their power, gaining a passive buff depending on their role. She can also gain signature abilities like Loki’s Regeneration Domain or Doctor Strange’s Shield of the Seraphim.
Rogue’s ultimate ability is also quite unique: upon activation, she can drain Ultimate Energy from nearby enemies while gaining further buffs from their roles. Your Ultimate loss is Rogue’s Ultimate gain.
Team-up changes in Marvel Rivals Season 5.5
Emma Frost and Psylocke are losing their Mental Projection Team-up Ability in Marvel Rivals Season 5.5. Emma Frost will now join Chilling Assault with Luna Snow and Iron Fist, incorporating ice abilities into her attacks. Psylocke will also join Sword of Duality with Cloak and Dagger, and Hawkeye. With this, Psylocke can throw a shuriken that damages enemies and heals allies.
Rogue also joins the diabolical combination of Magneto and Gambit in Explosive Entanglement. With this Team-up Ability, Gambit can channel kinetic energy into Rogue, allowing her to damage and heal nearby enemies and allies, respectively.
New events in Marvel Rivals Season 5.5
Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival is making a comeback in an all-new map called Jeffland, just in time for the holiday season. More festive-themed cosmetics are also in the works, including, amusingly, Matt Murdock (Daredevil) wearing an “I’m not Daredevil” sweater ripped right out of the pages of Marvel Comics.
Lastly, a “mystery burger” is making an appearance at Pym’s Test Kitchen in the Time’s Square player hub map on 18 December.
